Replaced an intake system that utilized an oiled foam filter with a different type of system that incorporated a very USED K&N cone filter. It was filthy and black. On top of that, it had sat in a box for several years before I got my hands on it.
Bought and paid for the K&N filter cleaning kit online with PayPal, using one of Advance's great promo codes that got me 20% off and then picked it up at my local store.
Sprayed on the cleaner, saturating the filter inside and out and then let it sit for about 20-25 minutes. Took it to the kitchen sink (shh... don't tell the wife) and rinsed it thoroughly with cool water from the inside out so as to flush the dirt and debris from the filter. Miraculously, the filter was nearly white as new! Sat it in front of a fan for a couple hours until it was dry and then sprayed on the oil.
The oil is what gives it the red color and also makes it very easy to see where you're applying the oil. After applying the oil the filter looked brand new. Let it dry for 30 minutes and into the car it went.
Great product at a great price, thanks to Advance and their generous promotions and coupons.

Ordered this item online with a bunch of other stuff. Picked everything up and went home. This item was allready opened then taped shut. The oil and was sprayed inside the cap. Later found out the oil did not spray correctly out of the can. In the same order, I picked up a new oil filter that had oily residue and oiled fingerprints all over it. Lesson learned, check all items before leaving the store.

I have used K&N for years. I have a S&B air intake system and they want over $30 for their cleaner kit..did a little research and its the same oil K&N uses in their kit. Even though I like S&B products, I just did it to save money..and I am not knocking S&B! I reside in FL, and the dust conditions here require to clean filter about 3 times a yr.

I didn't want to shell over the money for this product and it says that this product is good for a few recharges for your K&N air filter element. But after using this product which came with easy to read slash picture step by step instructions... I can tell you I will be able to easily get 3 to 4 recharges out of this product. So, when you figure the cost of this recharge kit to the cost of buying new air filter elements, this product pays for itself. It is a very good value and I was glad I purchased this product. I will definitely order this again when it comes time to.

I have owned a K&N air filter for about 8 years and cleaned it about 3 times prior to this cleaning. Before purchasing the cleaning kit, I used soap and water to clean the filter. It always took multiple rinses to get the filter clean and maybe even a gentile scrubbing with a toothbrush.
Purchased the kit to complete an order online and pick up a bigger coupon discount. The cleaner is awesome. There was a little greasy build up on the filter and after following directions, the filter was pretty clean after the first rinse. I was really surprised how well it worked. Cleaned it 1 more time with no noticeable difference, so it really did the job after first cleaning. No brushing needed. Forgot to take a before and after picture.
I found alot of the oil is wasted on over-spray and ends up on your hands, the lip of the can and rubber edges of the filter. It takes longer to dry than expected, but I recommend using a fan on a low speed to increase the drying time after cleaning and applying the oil. Make sure the filter is dry before reapplying, it could damage the MAF sensor. If you feel more drying time is needed, recommend keeping an old paper filter to temporarily use during cleanings.
Overall, I was very pleased with the kit. Cleaner was very effective and the even though the oil can is small it has enough for multiple cleanings.

Spray on the cleaner, saturating the filter inside and out and then let it sit for about some minutes. Rinse it thoroughly with cool water from the inside out so as to flush the dirt and debris from the filter. Let the filter sit for some minutes until it was dry and then spray on the oil. The oil is what gives it the red color and also makes it very easy to see where you are applying the oil. The oil has to applied on both sides of the filter.
