I tried this filter in several vehicles before giving up. All of them tapped and knocked on startup and at low speeds especially. When I changed to a Purolator or Mobil 1 filter the noise went away immediately. My mechanic also has had issues and warns customers to stay away.

Comments about Fram Extra Guard Oil Filter:
I purchased this Fram Oil filter as part of my routine maintenance for a 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6, although it looks like a small metalic can it actually contains years of scientific research and space-age materials that allow this "magical can" to properly seperate tiny little particles of unwanted material from the life blood of my vehicle, but only for 3 months or around 3,000 miles. The only problem I have seen is that this only comes in one color (orange and black), would like to see more color choices in the future.

Comments about Fram Extra Guard Oil Filter:
if you have to tighten to keep from leaking, you are screwed. It collapses under anything more than hand pressure.

Comments about Fram Extra Guard Oil Filter:
I've bought these for years. In my opinion the Purolator PureOne is the best oil filter for the normal daily driver but I just love the grip on the Fram Extra Guard. I have no concerns as to whether the filter is sufficient in getting the dirt because most oil filters are good for 7k-10k miles anyways. Does the job and is easy to change. No filter wrench needed.

I've used Fram filters for years and they have always been a dependable, economical maintenance part. I've put hundreds of thousands of miles on my own vehicles, and fleet vehicles I have maintained, using Fram filters.

PROS: It has a nice grip for hand tightening.
CONS: I don't know... maybe you don't like orange.
Do you like oil filters with cast aluminum baffles and a 12 gauge steel case? Fine, but what matters is the filter element. Ya'want 99% removal of 5 micron particles? OK, lots'a luck. (We're not talking about Formula 1 here.) How about a filter with magnets? If that's the case your engine needs more than a new oil filter. IMHO.
