I use this oil in 4 of my bmw's. Good for 15K to 20K mile change intervals. Just checked my valves at 150K and they were clean as if they were brand new. Changing oils every 5-6K is sooo last year. I love the new synthetics and only use them for my cars. Look at my 07 335i!

Comments about Mobil1 European Car Formula 0W-40 Synthetic Motor Oil (1 qt.):
This is great oil. Most people say run Mobil1 or other full synthetic oil in many BMWs, but that is just wrong for most. This 0w-40 is generally more appropriate and what the engines were designed to run on. This is great oil. I run 7,500 intervals as I usually push the engine quite a bit. At the end, the oil generally doesn't come out too dark and still holds its' intended viscosity. It feels like I could run it much longer. Can't say much more technical than that as I'm not an expert, but this stuff does the trick for me. 144k (E46 /w M54 3.0 & 5spd) on the clock and engine still runs strong and clean.
I'd rather stay on the safe side and do shorter intervals, gives me an excuse to get under the hood more often.
Don't forget to change your differential and transmission oils, they usually really need it!!!

If you read the fine print in your owners manual scheduled maintenance section, you will often discover that many extended oil change intervals (those beyond 5,000 miles) are for vehicles that are driven under "ideal" operating conditions.Q:

HOW MANY MILE DO I HAVE TO CHANGE MY OIL IN A MERCEDES R30 2007USING THIS OIL3 answers
VERIFIED BUYER
A:
I would recommend you look on your local Mercedes forum. Try www.mbworld.org for starters. That being said, Mercedes states that you can drive up to 10,000 miles using Mobil1 0w-40 before changing your oil. However, many owners only use the 10,000 miles as a reference. Checking your engine oil level and looking at the color of the oil on the dipstick (if its black at 6,000 miles, it is time to change regardless of you not hitting the 10,000 mile mark), are two good ways to gauge whether or not you should change.VERIFIED BUYER
A:
There is no Mercedes R30, at least in the US market. Check the badge on the back of your car, write it down, then try to type it in correctly, again.CUSTOMER CARE

No matter what oil a person uses, I always recommend following your manufacturers recommendations.Q:
I have a 2007 VW Passat with 39000 miles. Presently using Castrol Synthetic. Using a QT about every 1000 miles. LOts of tail pipe smoke. Would changing to Mobil 1 OW40 Syntc help my situation? VW says its not unlikely to use a QT every 1200 miles. I can't believe this.3 answers
VERIFIED BUYER
A:
It may help a little, but losing 1 qt/ 1000 miles is too much. Take it to a mechanic to check for leaks and do a compression test. If your smoke is white, check if you're losing coolant as well.CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Changing to a different type of oil may help out a little bit, but the car should not be using that much oil with it being so new and with such low miles. I believe that there is something going on within the motor that is causing you to burn/use the oil as you are.A:
Your 2.0T engine should not be using that much oil.. I have a 2006 Jetta, with the same 2.0T FSI engine.. I have 130,000 miles on it, and have used Mobil1 0w40 since it was new.. I change the oil every 10,000 miles, just like the owners manual states... I go through LESS than a quart of oil between oil changes.. If you are using a quart every 1000 miles, then there is something wrong with your engine.. Take it to the dealer and DEMAND that they find the problem, and fix it!!!Q:
