Can't speak to longevity yet, but install was pretty easy, and the Check Engine Light hasn't been on since. One bolt was a bit tricky to get to, but I've dealt with much more diffucult installs than this. Beats giving a dealership $250 to replace - that's a waste! Highly recommended!

Comments about BWD EGR Valve:
My old EGR valve in my 2006 Dodge Ram 5.7 Hemi truck went bad staying in the closed position throwing a C.E.L "check engine light" with a trouble code #1404 checked by the guy's at Advanced Auto Parts, but it must have been going bad for a while before the light ever came on until now. Because my mileage had fallen off about 1-1/2 yr's ago dropping down to the high 14 to low 15 MPG average, now it's back up in the 18 mpg range around town. So i'm sure it won't take long for the new valve to pay for itself.

Can't give a great review for something that does what it is supposed to do. It functions as it should and the price is reasonable.

Comments about BWD EGR Valve:
My 2005 Dodge HEMI RAM was throwing an error light for "EGR circuit high". [...] I installed it in 30 minutes using simple hand tools. I cleared the codes and the truck has been running fine. The only complaint I have is the lack of instruction but anyone familiar with working on their vehicles should be able to figure it out.

Comments about BWD EGR Valve:
I replaced my EGR valve on my truck and this part was an exact fit. In the box was the EGR valve and both of the gaskets. Took me about 30 minutes to change it out. Haven't had any problems since.

No, this BWD EGR Valve Part number EGR1586 does not fit your 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L.Q:
My 04 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi has the error code P0404 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Range/Performance, P0038 HO2S Heater Control Circuit High (Bank 1 Sensor 2), & P0137 02 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank I Sensor 2). Will a new EGR valve fix the issue? My truck also dies at random times, but not very often. I've read that issue can be corrected with a new EGR valve, but not sure if all the issues can stem from the same valve.2 answers
A:
I had the same code read on my 04 1500 Hemi. I replaced the EGR valve and the code went away. I also have an issue with my truck dying at random times. It hasn't died since I replaced the valve but I am having low idle issues when i come to a stop. I am in the process of finding an answer to this problem.CUSTOMER CARE

HOW HARD IS IT TO REPLACE.3 answers
VERIFIED BUYER
A:
It truly is not that hard to replace. It takes a minimum of skill and there are only 4 bolts to remove and replace. Need to make sure all of the previous gasket material is removed prior to installing the new EGR and gaskets. On the newer rams there are no other parts that really intefer or have to be removed to install this.CUSTOMER CARE
A:
I would say it is a moderate difficult job.A:
Not bad at all. You remove the air intake pieces by simply turning the hose clamp type screw nearest the intake manifold. The rest of the pieces detach with a clip (air cleaner box) or simply push into place, pull to remove (rubber gasket type fit). With those pieces gone, you slide the locking clip (on top)for the electrical plug to the side, and then the connector plug will detach. The rest is a simple 4 bolts to remove (2 at both connections). With the old EGR gone, the connection to the tube that runs to the exhaust moves/pivots and that helps you get the screws started. The tube also moves pretty freely, helping out with positioning. One of the bolts is a bit awkward to get to, but it's managable. My new EGR included both new gaskets - (a metal one to the engine side, and a paper one to the smaller exhaust inlet tube side). Replace in reverse order of removal, and your done. An hour if you take your time and are careful, tops.Q:
I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L. The engine is starting to stall, and it is happening more frequently. It stalls when you are driving slow, accelerate a little, and let off of the accelerator. usually when turning or slowing. the engine cuts off and it restarts fine. Usually happens when the truck is warmed up, but has started when cold. I have read some other reviews and some say dirty throttle body and some say EGR valve possibly bad. I have cleaned the Throttle Body, but it hasn't quite fixed it 100%. Does anyone know if changing the EGR Valve will fix the problem or know what is causing it?1 answer
A:
Try unplugging the egr valve and see if it stops stalling. If it runs fine then you know the egr is the problem. It will throw a check engine light but it will go out when you either replace or plug in the egr valve again.Q:
If I disconnect the battery and reset the computer will the light go out long enough to pass an emissions test?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It is possible but i do not reccomend you doing that since the EGR can throw the code back on right away.Q:
Does this part (EGR1586) come with all gaskets required?1 answer
VERIFIED BUYER
A:
Yes, at least mine did. Check inside the box before you leave the store.Q:
Where is the EGR valve located? Also, the engine light comes on and sometimes it will even stay off for a week at a time. When i had it tested the computer said it was the EGR flow sensor. Is it possible it's just a bad sensor?2 answers
