Due to Dodges infinite wisdom, you have to pull the alternator out of the way to install this. What should have been a 20 minute job, is now 2 hours.
      product itself looks fine.

              Comments about BWD EGR Valve:

Ordered online; picked up at store, plus found a real deal on oil/filter. The bottom bolt on the EGR valve is a challenge. I got a couple box wrenches on it in back and got it to move; then took the top bolt all the way out and pushed the EGR valve to the rear, then could get a box wrench on from the front to take bottom bolt out. Got a set of wobble 1/4" drive extensions to install it with a 1/4" drive 10mm socket. Cleared the code P0404 and no problems.

I should have changed it 2 years ago when the light came on, it didn't cause me any trouble until a few months ago. I didn't want to pay the $ to fix something that wasn't broken but my 2007 caravan started dying at idle speeds. I replace the easily accessible EGR valve and now everything is great.

Tip: take the top bolt out then rotate the valve out of your way to get the bottom bolt.

Have 2005 Chrysler Town and Country. Had code P404 and replaced this EGR valve and cleared code. Check engine light has not come back on. Replaced valve from the top without moving alternator or anything else. Used a 1/4 in swivel with socket to get to lower bolt on EGR valve.

I bought this for my wife's 2006 Grand Caravan which had a P404 code. It was fairly easy to install and fixed the problem. It has now been a month since I installed with no issues. The most difficult part is getting the bottom bolt out on the existing part, but can be done with a little patience and the correct wrench. Also, it came with both gaskets needed for installation.

                                  A:

The transmission uses a special hydraulic fluid under pressure to engage a series of forward gears and one reverse gear, basically transferring the power from the engine to the rear wheels. It has to do this constantly and smoothly every time the vehicle makes a trip. Sometimes the transmission can malfunction or indicate some warning signs before total failure. The transmission fluid level can be one of the most overlooked maintenance chores, responsible for the majority of transmission problems. Dirty or contaminated transmission fluid can cause hard shifting. The transmission filter sits in the pan sump and filters all particulate matter and debris in the fluid. When the screen or filtering device becomes clogged, the pressure flow from the pump becomes restricted, causing a high back-pressure condition. If the vacuum line becomes loose at its connection point, or the diaphragm fails inside the modulator, the transmission will not shift properly. The vacuum line and modulator should also be inspected for proper working order.

Take top bolt out of alternator use pry bar and pry to front of car, wont move much but enough to clear bottom bolt, put something in gap to keep alternator from moveing back, i use 1/4 in. drive rachet, and when done remove 1/4 in rachet and alternator will go back and replace bolt.

With the 3.8 liter motor the EGR valva is right in front on your left when facing the motor. You don't have to touch the alternator to get to it. You can work around it with the right tools. I used a short socket with an extension to get to the bottom bolt. The bottom bolt is the hardest part.

Sounds more like a vacuum leak. Are you sure you hooked up all the hoses like they were.

You will find those letter sets in the VIN number of your vehicle. If you look at your VIN number and you see the "yzz" consecutively in the VIN than you have the "YZZ" option. If you do not see the "yzz" in your vin, then you do not have the "YZZ" option.

Most codes the factory will put them on the valves itself, but you can find out which code you have thru a dealer or with the window sticker.Either way it will have this info in the options section.A code xzz which is listed for this vehicle is for a mid model year vehicle.

I understand the EGR sensor is to be changed at the same time as the valve, and that they should be purchased as a set that's calibrated to one another? Or is my information incorrect? I see the parts are available individually, which seems ill-advised if they need to be paired... ??
