Direct replacement Wheel Cylinders are designed to fit specific vehicle applications and to ensure a proper fit every time. Normal wear may cause piston seals to leak. Corrosion and pitting can also occur inside Wheel Cylinders as moisture builds up in the brake fluid. A leaky Wheel Cylinder can be dangerous to the driver, causing gradual softening of the brake pedal and creating brake pull to one side.

It is not an exact fit for the car. The oem fits perfectly on the back plate this one needs extra work to prevent water to come in the drum because it is smaller.

As another reviewer said: "It is not an exact fit for the car. The oem fits perfectly on the back plate this one needs extra work to prevent water to come in the drum because it is smaller." No gasket is included and the OEM gasket doesn't fit. I used a bead of RTV silicone sealant to seal it, then had to wait a day to avoid risking getting brake fluid on the silicone before it cured. This cylinder also looks lighter/cheaper than the OEM, but the cylinder does work and braking action feels good. This is for a '93 Escort.

Was easy to install. But buy a new brake brake line to connect to it. They almost always brake when removing from the wheel cylinder. If you don't need it, you can always return it. Also, did not come with a gasket. Original equipment did have a gasket. I put it in without one. Probably not a big deal has there's plenty of other holes where stuff can get in.

I bought this in May 2011, and it is now June 2012. I took my drum off due to a weak pedal, and noticed that this wheel cylinder was leaking already. ONE YEAR LIFESPAN IS PATHETIC! What happened to the good old days of quality parts stores?

This product was installed because the original Ford Wheel Cylinder started leaking after 14 years in service. This Wheel Cylinder by Tru-Torque lasted just over one year and started leaking. I would not recommend this product.
