      Yes, it does matter which way you put these on your car, place them in front of vehicle where the most air flow occurs.

      The Airflow Activated Deer Warning alert Whistle is made from ABS plastic and can be mounted on the bumper or hood of your vehicle. The Deer Warning alert produce high-pitched sounds not audible to humans to frighten deer away from oncoming vehicles. the Bell company makes them I have check their website but did not find any made of metal.

      It creates a loud pitch noise that is unable to be heard by humans but can be heard by the deer. It helps keep them away while driving.
