Dries so fast it leaves overspray laps. Poor coverage, I used 5 spray cans for one small trunk lid and spoiler, and the clear coat still looks blotchy. The coating often sputtered when the cans got half empty and there always seems to be a little clear coat left in the can after the propellant has been used up.

Comments about Duplicolor Clear Top Coat:

Used some 3 cans to do the hood one of my cars, about 20 square feet. Coverage was rather uneven and there was a lot of orange peel. A good deal of wet sanding was able to fix that to get a convincing look, but the finish only lasted about six months. UV fading, peeling and water spotting started to show up after about 3 months. This 'protective' clear coat can't even protect itself, much less the paint it covers - especially when considering that it costs more for a smaller can than many competitors' products.

Exhibits a factory match gloss, after appropriate light wet-sanding with 2000 grit sandpaper, followed by a polishing compound.

Comments about Duplicolor Clear Top Coat:

Do not waste your time with this nonsense. It's expensive, barely has any coverage, and goes on poorly. You can spray close and do a heavy coat in hopes of not getting massive orange peel only to risk sputtering, runs, sags, and needing about 10 cans to cover an area. I used 2 cans on a small hood and it looks awful. Wetsanding and buffing did nothing to save this. My hood feels like textured plastic compared to that smooth glassy feel my other body panels have. I will not recommend this product to anyone.

Comments about Duplicolor Clear Top Coat:

If you spray light coats of this clear, you will build up orange peel like crazy. If you spray it a little heavier the orange peel build up is a lot less, but you will still need to wet sand and polish.

I used used five applications on the hood of a 2001 white Toyota Corolla. The surface was extremely well prepped, clean, and dry. It looks like it was "powder-coated" and feels that way also! What should I do to get that nice glossy shine like the rest of the car? Sanding? Polishing compound? Both? Thank you for your help.
