The brake pads work great. Getting them was a bit more difficult than it should be.
Installing rear disk brake rotors and pads on a one ton dually is a bit of a challenge. These parts are big and heavy, it is nice when they fit right. I ordered these online and picked them up in the store. There seems to be a problem with the web site. The pads are listed as "front brake pads" with a dimension of over 8 inches long and another listing of "brake pads" with a dimension of less than 8 inches long. These are listed as an exact fit for my truck. Since I knew that I didn't need front brake pads, I ordered the ones that were less than 8 inches long assuming that they must be the rear pads and picked them up on my way home from work. The next morning when I went to install them they were much too small. I then measured my old rear brake pads and they were the same size as the ones listed as "front brake pads". Hmmmmm …...interesting….
I then got back online and ordered the "front brake pads" from my nearest Advance auto parts store 26 miles away and returned the smaller pads to them. Whatever savings I realized from ordering these online was more than offset by spending an hour and a half of time plus an additional $10 worth of gas to get the right pads. The parts guy looked up the brakes on his computer and told me that the smaller pads were the ones that were supposed to fit on the rear of my truck and was surprised when I told him that the front ones were the correct dimension for the rear brakes on my truck. Even if I had not ordered them online I would have received the wrong parts. There should be an easy way for the parts guy to get somebody to correct the computer listing to avoid this happening to somebody else. There's a lot of one ton GMC and Chevy dually trucks running around and they will all need brakes some day.
It is a great system. It is nice to not have to wait in line for the parts people to fetch your parts, it is nice to just walk in the door and pick them up at the register. It usually saves a lot of time. The parts people just need an easy way to flag these problems so the data base can be corrected.

The brake pads themselves are great. Just be sure to get the right ones. I am not sure how you can do that if the computer gives you the wrong listing.

Had to buy these brakes on a Sunday as my normal supplier was closed.

The included hardware that should be replaced was terrible. It was so bad that after doing the left side and starting the right side, I cleaned up the old hardware (which was stainless steel BTW) in my parts washer and re-used it.

Then, I took the left side apart again, got the old hardware out of the trash, cleaned it up and put it back on.

Too bad. The pads are probably O.K. but the poor quality hardware ruins the deal.

They work just fine on a secondary truck I own. I seldom use this vehicle so they worked out fine. If you are driving the vehicle everyday or seing heavy use you may want to buy a better product. No complaints for my purposes.

I found out the hard way during the job. I have a 2000 Silverado 1500 2wd STD cab V8. The parts should be the same but you may just want to check before ordering. The wearever brakes part number for the front is MKD 785 and MKD 792 for the rear. The website does have both front and rear part numbers if you filter the search by rear only. I'm positive about the above being correct. I just replaced my brakes and had to do a store trade midway through the job. Hope this helps.

I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado with the 5.3L and 4WD. I asked a question earlier and was asked to provide my vehicle. The MKD792 and MKD785 are both listed as the Wearever Silver Rear Brake Pads and there are no listings for front brake pads. I am assuming one is listed incorrectly, so which part number is the Wearever Silver Front Brake Pads? Thanks.

Are these pads really for the front? They are in the "front pad" category but they say rear pads in the title. And there are two listings for Wearever Silver pads for the rear and none for the front.
