This over-sized self tapping caliper mounting bolt worked perfectly for my '01 Dakota. I thought I was going to have to replace my entire steering knuckle, then researched and found out about this. A real life and money saver.

The oversize threaded bolt worked perfectly. Went in with no trouble and tightend right up and fixed my 2002 Dodge Durango.

Comments about Dorman - Help Brake Caliper Bolts - Oversized 2-3/16 Inch:

While the ideal repair would be installing a Heli-Coil, most part stores don't carry the kits - and most people don't have much experience using them. Note that using more than one kit per caliper is NOT recommended.

This bolt kit is a "Problem Solver" - but corrosion and wear will eventually require some form of thread insert for permanent repairs.

            • A:

It's not an allen wrench. It's a size 45 torx that fits the caliper bolts.

            • A:

It is Not necessarily a T-45 Torx Bit, as for Different Models of Dakota's only off by 1 Year have different sized bolts, and on mine whoever fixed it before me had 4 different Caliper Bolts. 7mm Allen Wrench is what fits the aftermarket replacement bolts I bought (very close to the T-45) however the 2 bolts on the other side were a smaller sized allen wrench But defintely NOT Torx T-45 on the 1998 4x4 Dodge Dakota (3.9L V6)~ It fits but would strip out the similar sized Allen Key Holes.

              A:

If the bolt is not getting tight, then they may be the possibility that the threads are stripped out and need to be tapped and re-threaded.
