I have used this product twice to replace headliners in vehicles. The problem I see is with the way the glue sprays out of the can. It leaves a heavy bead of glue on the outer edge of the spray pattern which can be seen in the final product. To avoid this you will need to use a brush to even out the coating of glue. This is impossible to do on the cloth headliner but can be done on the mounting board with mixed results.

Over the years, I have replaced about 7 headliners in my vehicles and for relatives. I have always used 3M brand headliner adhesive in the past and it has worked great and held up extremely well. This last time, I decided to save a few dollars and try Permatex, which is a name brand company. It is important to clean the old material off as best you can. I did this. You must also spray a coating to both the headliner board and the material. The Permatex adhesive appeared to work well to start, but within a day there were places that had begun to seperate. Spend a few extra dollars and buy 3M brand which is also available from Advance.

The rear of my car's interior roof lining had dropped down some. While this product was very adhesive it did not hold up the lining. It came back down within 12-hours.
Comments about Permatex Body Shop® Heavy-Duty Headliner and Carpet Adhesive:
If I could give this 0 stars I would. This is a horrible product I followed the instructions exactly and my headliner wouldn't even stick to the backing while it was out of the car upside down. I used the whole can (It was a small section of headliner maybe 3ft x 4.5ft) and have absolutely nothing to show for it, except another trip to the store to get 3M's adhesive this time. The only positive about this product was that it didn't work at all, so there is little, if any adhesive on my headliner so I can reuse it with the new 3M product I will be buying. [*]

Used this product to repair the sagging front and rear sections of a car headliner as well as cloth door trim that had come loose. Also reattached the two laminated sections of my personal belt that had split apart. The width of the spray pattern can be easily controlled, but I also taped off the area surrounding the repair to prevent any overspray.

How fast does it dry. The headliner I want to fix is on above the dashboard, and I want to do it while it is still above without taking the whole headliner down. It is just that the fabric came off the foam the width of the winshield about 5 inches wide.1 answer

I have an '04 Mazda 6i & wanted to know how to use this product? also do I have to remove the headliner?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It would be easier to remove the headliner. You remove the headliner material and on foam below it, spray this on there and then re-apply the material. Be sure not to use to much. That is basically how to do it.Q:
does this work on the ceiling of the car. my car ceiling is coming off from the front of the car, i need something that would glue it back together,so it wont come off again, i guess from so much heat of the sun it as peeled of a little bit in the front where the headvisors go. please let me know if this is good for that.thanks1 answer
