I replaced the blower motor resistor on my 2005 Chevy Trailblazer. #4 on my blower speed dial wasn't working. I replaced the first one and everything worked fine, #4 started working again, then the next day, it blew. I went through three of them in the matter of a week. I took my car in to a shop and they didn't find anything wrong with the system other than the blown resistor pack. What the heck people. I expect more from Advance. This is junk. Don't buy it.

Quite a bit cheaper than buying the AC Delco part and has excellent quality! Installed in less than 5 minutes into 2002 Trailblazer, has been working perfectly ever since!

Product is better quality than OEM. Features epoxy-sealed electronics that the OEM product did not. I imagine this is why so many OEM parts fail.

Comments about BWD Blower Motor Resistor:

Lost fan blower speeds 1-4. Online research pointed me to this part. This Advanced Auto Part looks to be much more robust than the original OEM part and is resonably priced.

            Took 20 minutes to change.

            Tools needed:
            Flashlight
            7MM Nut Driver
            Small Standard Screwdriver
            7/32 Nut Driver

1.) Remove plastic kick plate under glove box, 2 screws, with 7mm nut driver
2.) locate blower, remove 2 ea 7/32 screws holding resistor pack on and unclip harness.
3.)Empty/Open glove box and push up wire latch stop in the back so that it drop down and you can get access to the blower connector behind box.
4.) Use the standard screwdriver to release the plug clip of the wiring harness from motor, resistor should now be out and completely loose.
5.) Reverse process to install new one.

The factory resistor burned the #4 setting when it was two years old. I installed one of these and within a week the new one burned out the #4 setting. Replaced that one and the second unit did the same thing. Like the title says this is garbage.

Blower on our 2004 EnvoyXL was working randomly and only when fan was set on lower speed when car was started. Now cannot get it to come on at all. Is it the blower motor resistor that causes this?

                          A:

If it is your manual HVAC system, then the blower motor resistor pack is defective or the blower motor itself is bad. If it is the Automatic digital HVAC, then blower motor control module is defective or the blower motor itself is bad.

passenger side of the dash under the glovebox. a couple of bolts/screws are holding it in. If your a/c only works on high this is what should fix your problem a blower motor isn't necessarily what you need.
