The blower motor used to only operate on the two highest speeds, so I replaced the resistor with this part. It now operates on all speeds as it should. This is a redesign from the factory part, so hopefully the flaws which caused the original resistor to fail have been corrected.

It looks better made than the original but I ended up exchanging it for the one with the 4 holes instead of 2. The one with 4 holes bolted right in and did not require the plastic cover from the original unit. So far, it works great. I would just say to check carefully which one you need.

Comments about BWD Blower Motor Resistor:
this particular model did not fit with the original bracket on my 2004 Chevy Tahoe, and couldn't mount it properly without the bracket. using only 1 screw doesnt secure it properly, and thusly, blew the majority of the air on the passenger floor in a noisy fashion.
However, since i didn't feel like going through the return process and ordering the right part (which didn't appear in stock anywhere nearby), I modified the OE bracket by cutting sections out with a dremel to get it securely installed. Once installed, it worked as needed.
do yourself a favor, and take yours out to compare before ordering.

Comments about BWD Blower Motor Resistor:
Easy to install, had to rotate the main harness plug 180 so it would click into the resistor female plug.
The price is way cheaper than other resistors for the same purpose.

Comments about BWD Blower Motor Resistor:
It does not perfectly fit my 2002 Avalanche 1500. It works but I had to leave it sticking out about 1/2 inch to be able to replace the two mounting screws. I have to wait to see how long it lasts and if does function as it is supposed to. This is not the same switch as the original.

No problem with the unit per-se, but there are a number of chevy blower motor resistor variants that differ only in their mount (and price). They all look very similar, so just double check before you order.

This was for a 2004 Chevey Silverado Ext cab with no rear heat. It would not fit the adaptor and had to get a four hole from another parts comapany because Advanced Auto did not have the four hole in stock and was $100.00 dollars over priced..They lost a sale.

My 2002 Z71 Tahoe has front and rear blower motors. Does the rear blower have a separate resistor and if so, Where? The front works on all speeds and the rear blower works sometimes so I figure the motor is still good. Please Help.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
With reference to this BWD Blower Motor Resistor - part# RU1064, the problem could be a faulty rear blower motor or resistor on your Tahoe. You will need check the fuse for this circuit first. It is in the under hood fuse block FUSE - RR HVAC 30 AMP and there is another fuse in the L. instrument panel fuse block for the switch FUSE IGN 3 -10 AMP. Test these with a 12 volt test lamp or a volt meter. Next you will need to access the blower motor and test for voltage at the motor and the resistor. For any further assistance, please visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and one of our representatives there would be more than happy to assist you.Q:
I have an 05 chevy suburban 5.3l v8 flex fuel.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Yes, this BWD Blower Motor Resistor(Part No. RU1064) fits your 2005 Chevy Suburban 5.3L V8. Symptoms of a Bad Blower Motor Resistor: Intermittent Operation: When the resister of the blower motor starts to fail, the motor operates only intermittently. This often presents itself as the blower fan not kicking on until the engine is producing a certain level of electric current. The higher current can make the jump across the resistor contacts that are going bad and get the blower motor to engage. The blower motor could stop working again on longer road trips when the car is at a cruising speed and the electrical current of the motor drops again. No Lower Settings: The lower settings of the blower motor require less electrical current to engage. But when the resistor of the blower motor is failing, it creates a larger gap between the connectors. This gap may be too far for the electric current to travel across. When this happens, the lower settings of the blower motor aren't able to function. The top setting of the blower motor may still be operational. Reduced Air Movement: Reduced airflow is when the blower motor is trying to move air through the vents but the resistor isn't sending enough power to move the air with much pressure. The blower motor resistor is receiving power but not the full force. Reduced air movement can occur at all of the different speed settings of the motor blower. Depending on how much resistor is still functioning, the reduced airflow could be an intermittent problem.Q:
