I have purchased two of these in the past year. the first one lasted about eight months. I purchased a 2nd because it's the only resistor pack my local Advanced Auto Parts store keeps on stock. I replaced the resistor and blower motor at the same time and the resistor pack I replaced was still good at the time I replaced it, so I'm having a hard time believing that there may be something with my vehicle causing the failure.

Purchased Jan 23rd and failed on January 31st. Advance Auto Parts has the warranty for replacement, but this means I have to pay another installation fee of about $50 to my mechanic.

Fairly easy to install in my 2002 Grand Am. You do need to remove the blower motor to access and a universal/wobble on socket driver is essential. I am a novice and I was able to replace in about 30 minutes.

I got all my blower settings back after installing it on my 2000 Pontiac Grand am. The resistor was hard to install because of where it was positioned all in front of the firewall.

Fast and easy fix/install in our 99 Grand Am. Fixed the lack of 1st and 2nd 'gear' with the blower motor. Looked and felt sturdier than the OEM printed circuit board.

It is not possible to diagnose your vehicle's high idle, but the blower motor resistor is only responsible for controlling the speed of the blower fan in your car's cabin, and not engine idle.
