This replacement blower motor is a very good value. For [$], it cannot be beat. I priced a used one, that I would have had to remove myself, and it would have cost about $20.00. (plus it has been used for who knows how long)There is only a slight difference in the height of the original squirrel cage (taller) and this replacement.

This replacement fan motor worked well once I got it in. Thanks to stupid Chevy design it is hard to replace as it is tucked up under the dash and the screws are hard to get at. Being a professional contortionist will help a lot. Replacing it myself saved a bundle.

When I hold the wires that connect to the motor (not the resistor) at a certain angle, the fan operates perfectly. When I release it, the fan fails. Is it likely that it is the connection on the motor or the wires? Neither the "male" or "female" connections feel loose.

The possible cause of the problem should be with the connection on the motor. Either the "male" or "female" connections may be loose.

Yes, To test a Blower Motor: Listen for the sound of the motor. If you don't hear sound, it could be a bad resistor, a blown fuse or a loose wire. Replace any blown fuses. Turn on the motor and watch the new fuse. If it immediately blows, you have an electrical short. If it lasts a while but then blows, you probably should replace the brushes on the motor. Pull out the motor if the fuses are functioning. Check for loose wires. If these aren't loose, hook jumper wires to the motor. Attach one wire to a ground and another to a power source. Replace the motor if it doesn't start. Turn on your heat if the motor and fuses work. Listen and feel at the vents for air. Switch on your air conditioning. If you don't get air, your motor might have clogged or the air controls may be defective. Use a scan tool to check the air controls.
Please check the additional information regarding testing of blower motor ( ohmmeter testing ) that has been sent to your mail address.
For compatibility of this part with your vehicle, please provide your vehicle make, model and engine specification.

If you have a 2000 Malibu, it is located under the drivers side dash panel at foot level. Pop The panel off. The resister and blower motor are both under there.

The A/C Blower Motor's location varries from vehicle to vehicle depending on the model vehicle you have. The best way to find the location is by purchasing Haynes Repair Manual from you local Advance Auto Parts store. The Manual will give you the exact location of the blower motor, it will also direct you step by step with detailed instructions on how to replace any part on your vehicle.
