I just bought a '99 Explorer XLT, and I noticed a weird and obnoxious noise coming from my center console for rear heat control. The best way to describe it is an elephant blowing its trunk, continually. I was wondering is it the blower in there going bad or what? It's so bad that it vibrates the center console and it must be off. If it's the blower motor how easy is it to replace?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It is likely one of the front pulleys, tensioner or the pan motor gone bad. However, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer. We would suggest that you take your vehicle to a certified mechanic for further diagnosis.Q:

The blower motor is located on the firewall on the passenger side of the vechicle just behind and a little below the windshield wiper water resivoir. It's secured by 4 small bolts a vent house and the power plug. It slides out with the fan blade attached.Q:
How can you tell if this part that needs to be replaced? and how do you install it?2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Check for 12-volts at the blower motor. If 12 volts is present, replace the blower motor. If not, check for a faulty relay or fan switch. in order to help you install a blower motor would need the exact year make model and engine size of your car/truckA:
If there is 12 volts at the cabel going to the blower and the blower does not turn or if when 12 volts is applied to the leads and the motor hesitates before it starts to spin or bearings are squelling the blower motor should be replaced. Replacing is easy. Install new motor just as old is removed.
