I installed a Autocraft Silver automotive battery in my 2001 Windstar back in 2007 after the factory battery kicked the bucket. Last week I left the back lid open on the van for about 30 minutes to load some stuff up becasuse I was going out of town.
After I got my 2 dogs loaded up and was ready to leave I tried to crank the van and no go!! I thought what the HEY! 30 minutes isn't that long.
Luckly my neighbor was out working on one of his hunk of junks in his driveway so he offered to gave me a jump. I figured by the time I arrivied at my destination the battery would be charged up and I shouldn't have any more problems.
Well that wasn't the case after letting the van sit for a couple of days it was time for me to load the dogs up and get out of there and head back home.
Dogs in the van huffing and puffing lets go!! lets go!!
I Said my fair wells to the out - Laws and got in the van and NOTHING! Man we were ready to go.. Two days with the in Laws was about all me and the dogs could handle. Please don't let there be anything else wrong with my FORD!
I had thrown the jumper cables in the back before I left my house just in case, Glad I did now! Got a jump from the father in law and off we went.
I was afraid to stop on the way home this time to let the boys out and take care of business, so the poor guys was about to bust by the time I backed into the drive way back at home. I got out and opened the back lid on the van it was like 2 bolts of lighting streaking past me.
The first thing after unloading the van was to find a reasonable priced battery. So of course I got on the internet and started my search.
I won't mention any other companies here but I searched near and far and came to Advance Auto Parts web site and found the 15% off $50.00+ the $25 offer. There batteries weren't the cheapest in town but pretty close and with the offers on the website it made them in the ball park for my wallet. So I joined the Advance Auto Parts website and purchased the Autocraft Silver battery online.
Like I said way back up at the top of this review I had put the Autocraft Silver battery in the van in 2007. (That's 6 years ago) I'm sure I had to buy it at Advance Auto Parts back then, can't remember that far back though.
So I jumped in the van to go pick it up, the store is just down the street from the house and boom I had to look for another jump. Neighbor again save the day.
Finally made it to the store and went in side, they were pretty busy that day so I had to wait for a few minutes. I started talking to a man that was in front of me and he was there for the same problem. He was going to get his battery checked. Advance does that for FREE for there customers or any body I guess?
I thought that might be a good Idea to have mine checked just to make sure it was the battery. So one of the Assoicates a young lady went to the parking lot with me and the other man and checked both batteries. His was dead but, mine said it needed to be charged.
Now I started to get worried. Could it be the alternator or something more serious?
Well the young lady and I talked about it for a little while and discussed the battery and how old it was. 6 years is a pretty long time for a battery but we still couldn't figure out why it stated it needed to be charged.
So I decided to go the cheapest way and go ahead and try the new Autocraft Silver battery. The young lady offered to install it for me but I told her I would do it. She offered there cart and tools but I brought my own tools too.
After I installed the new Autocraft Silver battery She brought her tester back out and checked it again. This time she everything checked out just fine Alternator and all.
I'm here to tell you that did the trick I've had no problems so far, the van cranks right up every time I want to go. Good Choice!! Glad I went back with the Autocraft Silver.
I really thought I was going to have to sink more money into that van and I didn't want to. If you know what I mean? If you have ever watched that movie Money Pit, well my van is just that. I bought it brand new right off the show room floor and I probably have paid for it twice over now because of the problems I've had with it.
I have to say the customer service was pretty darn good down at Advance Auto Parts that day. I don't know if I got lucky or hopefull there like that all the time I don't go in very often. I really liked the young lady taht helped me. She knew her stuff and wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty.
Oh yea, The other man that was there checking on his battery. He needed a new one too and I talked him into getting one there too. I think he might of bought a Silver as well not sure about that though.
Over all, My experince that day made it a little more pleasent spending the $100 bucks+ Which I didn't want to spend in the first place. But Hey, you got to do what you got to do. I wouldn't want to be stranded on I95 nor 495 on the beltway in DC with a dead battery. That's the route I was taking that day. Really glad that didn't happen!

I bought this batter (the first one) at the AAP in columbia, MD. after just over 2 years (the third winter) the battery dies, they don't hassle me too much and pro-rate a replacement $58. just under 2 years later the second one starts loosing charge so I bring it in for the store to check (my mechanic said it was the battery) and they insist that the battery was fine and it was some other problem, it warms up and the problem goes away for a few weeks. Then it does it again... starts loosing charge just after the 2 year mark... I take the battery back to the store, they say they charge it up and it holds a charge... so I take it back home and call my mechanic and set another appointment and buy one of those backup jumpstart boxes so I don't get stuck. A few days later the truck just won't start... battery is dead-dead and wont jump or start with the box... (my mechanic comes out with a tester (he's a great guy) and once again goes through the electrical system... and guess what... it's the battery. I take it back to the store, and for a third time, they insist that the battery is good, until I tell them what my mechanic did... then the guy at the counter says that since I had a battery before this lemon, that they don't have to give me a replacement. I had to talk with the guy for 10 minutes (I was being very polite, I didn't yell even though I realy wanted to) and explain maryland state law... it was then that his coworker who was standing 3 feet away the whole time and had been listening to us, stepped over and told him he was mistaken about store policy, and that I should be pro-rated another battery... I am considering talking to a lawyer and the BBB about this bait-and-switch type scam they tried on me. Don't buy this battery or be willing to have to fight for your rightful warranty replacement. Caviat Emptor.--I am very very unsatisfied.

When I look for any auto part, I start with Advanced AUTO. they've had parts in stock that I couldn't believe. (Double power window switch, sway bar tie rod ends.) All other part stores had to order those specific parts. I always order on-line and pick up at local store. You can save 30 to 40%,easy. Never been disappointed about pick-up, always have all parts and the right ones. There in store specials make it worth strolling thru the store when I pick up my parts. With 3 cars and a truck, this is the place to go.

is this battery powerful enought to handle all the electronics of my ford explorer fully loaded eddie baur addition?1 answer
A:
Yes, it will be powerful enough but you may not get the full 4 years. Living in PA your best bet is to go with the 850. It's a little more expensive, but it will be better in the long run especially in the colder months. Lived in NY most my life and know what it's like being stranded with a dead battery, don't let my location fool ya lol. Hope that helps!!!Q:
