Its black, square, it fit, and it starts the Jeep. It is about 1/8" wider at the top so the factory hold down bracket needed to be cocked slightly to tighten down. The caps do come off so you can check the water level which was perfect in all six cells. The battery is only 75% charged off the shelf.

I've been asked to review a brand new battery. It works, ask me again in about 7 or 8 years. For the people who checked "heavy" under cons, it's a lead acid battery, if it's heavier it means it has more lead in it therefore it is probably a better battery and will last longer.

My wifes car wouldn't start and we live 1/2 a block away from the store. Since they offer free installation, I offered the Tech a ride to my house. He refused my offer of a ride, and told me to get the car to the store and he'd install it. I find it uncomfortable driving w/pants on so he was off-put when we got in and I dropped trou. The battery is great tho!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is a no frills battery designed to do the job. 1000 amps will turn over a 13:1 compression motor with ease. They even price matched another stores price and that made the deal. Dual terminal is great for multi vehicle applications or running accessories that require connection to the battery.

Great CCA's for the price and notably strong turnover after replacing a battery that was promoted with same 800 CCA, but the other brand old battery had underwhelming results at only 500 CCA after two years of use. For giggles, this battery was tested and came in over 800 CCA. I picked up after buying online and it was ready at the counter. Better than Sears or Sam's....

Sorry for any confusion caused. Most of the maintenance free batteries are sealed and do not require topping. However there are few maintenance free batteries with removable vent caps as well. This AutoCraft Gold Battery, Group Size 34/78, 800 CCA - Part No. 34/78-4 is one such. Most customers will never need to add water to their maintenance-free batteries. In fact, the vast majority of batteries don't even allow you to check the fluid levels anymore. But if your maintenance-free battery does have removable caps, there is certainly no harm in removing them and adding water if the fluid happens to be low. I am curious as to why once a year my battery seems to go bad. I bought the Gold 800cca battery 2 years ago, last summer it got to where it wouldn't hold a charge for longer than 2 days, exchanged it and this one is doing the same thing 1 year later. I know its not the vehicle draining it because I took it out and set it on my work bench and it went down there also.
