Q:
how can you tell when this harmonic balancer is bad, this car 89 buick park ave. 3.8 eng2 answers
A:
It will start making a "Clacketty,Clacketty,Clack" noise at engine idle because it is falling apart literally driving the serpentine fan belt for water pump ,alternator, etc. . When you lift the hood the clackety noise will sound like something is loose in the upper engine(valve train, lifters, etc.) My Buick has 240,000 miles now and my Harmonic Balancer is noisy now at engine idle and drive speeds . Going to change it this week for sure depending on whether I can get the old one off without some fancy puller . I don't want to have to drop the engine to get clearance needed for a puller .CUSTOMER CARE

A:
Locate the large metal piece from the harmonic balancer removal kit. This piece looks like the webbing on the foot of a duck, and is therefore commonly referred to as a "duck's foot." (if you do not have please visit your local Advance Auto Parts so that they can get the right tool for you, also recommend getting a Haynes Repair Manual as depending on vehicle there are step by step instructions on removing this part).Q:
where does this go?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
