I just bought an Autocraft Automotive Stethoscope because I need it to help me detect leaks in my Toyota Corolla intake and exhaust valves. I previously purchased a Leak Detector and it showed little leakage through the rings. The Autocraft Stethoscope has a solid probe, can I remove the probe to help me use it to detect air leaks or will it still function to detect air leaks using the solid probe?Asked on 3/25/2012 by John from Pittsburgh, PA1 answer

Yes, isolate the engine noise from the sound of the leak using the Autocraft Auto Stethoscope. Listen for the rush of escaping exhaust. You may need to replace the solid probe portion with tubing to maneuver in the area better and hear the exhaust noises.Answered on 3/27/2012 by Vincent from AAP
