      Comments about Thrush Welded Muffler:

I needed something with a bit more sound for my Porsche 924S that didn't look like a ricer exhaust and/or cost a fortune, and this muffler really delivered! It's a 2 chamber very similar to the Flowmaster 40 but at half the cost. My engine is a rather large inline 4 cyl pushing 2.5L, so is a bit tricky to get a nice smooth sound without sounding like a really bad teen tuner project. This muffler swapped in place of the factory part gets me that really nice deep, hollow, expensive euro sports/weekend race car sound that I was looking for, and it cost me far, far less than off the shelf systems on the market. Since my muffler is right at the rear of the car, it maintains an understated look that won't attract unwanted attention, especially painted with black exhaust paint, which also helps protect it from corrosion. It's constructed very well with thick gage steel and solid welds. I've had it for almost 2 years and it's only just beginning to show some surface rust in a couple spots, and I drive it all year, snow, rain, etc.

Only downside I found is it can be kind of loud and harsh with a really open exhaust system (no cat/resonator). This would be no problem and would actually enhance the sound on engine configurations that naturally sound good, like V6, I6, V8's, etc., but my big 4 cyl needed the rest of the exhaust components to keep the sound smooth (and legal). On a race track, though, it would be great with a test pipe and 4-1 headers, but with a totally different raw, open sound.

Muffler on the 4.7 is just amazing, produced the best sound we could have imagined, exactly what we were looking for, we removed old muffler/tailpipe, and welded muffler onto 2 3/4 Y pipe, with dual exits out the sides at a 90 degree angle, with 3 1/2 inch chrome tips
