We got this for my wife's 2001 Cougar to replace her beat up 8.5 year old AEM air filter. We just simply used the clamp the old filter had and put it around the new Spectre filter. I put the oil on it when I got home to keep the dirt and debris out of the engine and the car runs just fine. The AEM filter cost $60 almost vs. this filter which fits the same for $20. You can't beat that.

i have used this filter with 3 cars and it did work for its supposed to help your car breath better and make the engine struggle less which means that the less effort the engine does the more power it gains. try reducing the weight of pulleys with other lighter ones and you'll see. but at the end if it doesnt come with a clamp, just buy it when you can or in the meantime, use duct-tape around the outlet.

Bought this when I was looking to replace my stock filter. Saw this and thought I would try it. Had to buy an exhaust pipe that went from 3 to 2 1/2. Clap both ends and it fits nicely into the old housing. Love it and so does my supercharger.

Comments about Spectre Universal High Flow Air Filter:

This filter is a very good filter. I use it on my car as a replacement for my k&n and for me this filter performs better then k&n. I felt a kick in performance as soon as I put it on. I can't rate it on fuel usage yet cause I haven't had it on that long. Yes it doesnt come with a clamp but big deal just use your old one or get a new one. So this filter performs good and it looks good too once you put it in. I strongly recomend it for anyone that wants better performance from their car.

Comments about Spectre Universal High Flow Air Filter:

Not quite sure how Oolong had issues with this filter.
The user mentioned that it doesn't come with a "strap". Add a t-clamp and the problem is solved. They go on to state that it falls off easily while driving. This problem occurs when NO t-clamp is used and the filter isn't FULLY wedged on to the intake opening. It should have at least 2-3" of the intake pipe inside the collar, to the point where rotating the filter is barely attainable. Besides, you shouldn't throw a performance filter into the mix WITHOUT the t-clamp.

You say you're a "mechanic", well, act like it.
A full 5 star rating was missed on this one only due to the fact that Spectre is trying to cater to the K&N faithfuls. Otherwise, this filter does as intended.

Spectre recommends this Universal High Flow Air Filter part# 9132 will increase horse power with no definite ratings in number as it depends upon the driving, load and road conditions. This cotton fiber air filter is one of the safest because it extracts smaller particles and more of them from intake air than other filters while allowing maximum air flow. It measures 3 with a cone flat-top style and comes in red. It is also washable, reusable, and oil-able.
