      Comments about Thrush Turbo Muffler:

Used on 99 chevy tahoe 5.7 vortec.Only installed a short time. They seem to be well made, but much more quiet than I had expected. At idle that are minivan quiet. Under quick throttle they sound a little grumble in a good way. And they cackle nice when u back off the throttle quickly. I personally would prefer a more aggressive sound. Have not had them long enough to tell u anymore.

        Comments about Thrush Turbo Muffler:

I installed this on a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee....

1)I welded this to a piece of extension pipe. I removed a layer of metal (whether from the galvinization of aluminization) before i welded it and it welded quite nicely.
        2) I had to "flare" one end with a tail pipe expander and it worked out quite nicely. The inlet/outlet is not some cheap, thin metal so it did require some effort to do this.
        3) The dimensions were exact which made installation a cinch.
        4) When i start the truck it has a nice grumble to its idle. sounds like a dodge.
        5) when i accelerate slowly you do not hear it as much because it is in a higher gear.
        6) when i punch the gas you hear a nice throaty growl.

brings out exactly the sound that I wanted to my 1953 hemi engine! Doesn't rattle your ear drums, but gives a nice v-8 rumble.

Just put this muffler on my girlfriends '96 Jeep Cherokee. It sounds better than the stock muffler, was easy to install with just a 6 inch bit of tubing added, and it was cheap! very very suprised.

In a previous question, you said it will slide over the pipe and will just have to be clamped. Will it slide over a 2.25 inch pipe and be able to get away with clamping it?

This muffler is listed under "performance"...is it "street legal"? Will my car have any problem passing state inspection in MD.? Also, hangers are not pictured, would I have to use the pipe type hangers?

Yes, its street legal in MD. The muffler will slide over the existing pipe. Then just clamp it down.

I have a Chevrolet HHR LT 2.4L. I was just wondering how 'good' this will sound, & if it sounds out-of-box, or is there a 'break-in period' or 'need to blow out'? Will it improve gas mileage, horse-power? I already have purchased the muffler, & will be installing it in a few days when I get time. I just want to know what I can expect.

Yes, it will increase the gas mileage and horse power. Backpressure is decreased 30 percent over stock, with a deep performance tone under acceleration that quiets down while cruising.
