      • Q:

What is the purpose of sway bar bushings, and can you still drive when you start to hear the noise when you hit bumps.
Asked on 6/11/2010 by Andre from New bern, NC

        1 answer

        • A:

Typically if you are hearing a clunking noise over bumps or sudden braking you should inspect the sway bar linkages for failure or depending on your car the Tension/Torsion Rods. The sway bar bushings simply hold the bar to the chassis and allow the bar to rotate to help compensate body roll during turns.
