This is a cork and rubber gasket with a steel core. It is the gasket that seats with the valve covers.A:
Replace it with this gasket. You prolly have a leak from dry rot and keep tighting the screws/bolts. if you over torque the gasket it will leak. My suggestion is never use cork gaskets. Felpro should be slapped upside the head for ever making cork ones. what I do is tighten to snug then go 1/8 of a turn of the wrench for the final torque down. Or better yet, if it says in the manual go there. I used to have a problem over tightening bolts then I got a mini torque wrench, never had a problem since.Q:
