For a while my 1999 Chevy Blazer leaked coolant, at first just a few drops a week. Then it progressed to me being able to see coolant coming out from under the car onto the ground after shutting the car off. My monthly routine of adding coolant to the reservoir and radiator turned into a weekly routine, at least. We will have this car paid off in February of 2011 and have already dumped a ton of money into it. My mantra for the last few months has been to spend no more big money on this thing. Just hold it together until it is paid off, at least.
As time went on I would add coolant to the reservoir, drive it around long enough for the engine to get hot (has not overheated) and then returned home. I check the reservoir and poof, all fluid is gone, even minutes after coming home. All on the driveway.
I went to Advance Auto and got Bars Stop Leaks, part #1109: Turn engine off and wait until it is cool enough to take Radiator cap off. Then, pour entire contents into radiator. This took longer than I would have thought, like 5 minutes, as the stuff is pretty thick. Then, top off with anti-freeze, which I was unable to do at first because the treatment is thick and takes a while to move. So I just put in as much anti-freeze as possible in radiator and also top off reservoir. Put the radiator cap back on. Turn heat on high and all the way into the red (hottest heat) then turn car on. Run for 5 minutes straight with heat on high. Then, turn car off, and when engine is cool enough, check radiator and top off fluid in both reservoir and radiator, as the 5 minutes with the heat on has allowed everything to circulate. I topped everything off on Saturday. It is now Monday and I have not seen a drop of anti-freeze and even the smell has disappeared. It has only been 2 days, so who knows. And for $3.00 or so I will continue to do this again and again if need be. But I am hopeful that this will work.

I used this product in an attempt to stop an intake manifold gasket leak on a GM 3.1L V6 in a 1994 Buick Skylark. Initially it appeared to stop the leak but unfortunately when the car was driven several miles the following day the leak worsened and the engine overheated resulting in head gasket leaks.
This product may work for minor coolant leaks but it doesn't seem up to the task of sealing serious leaks.

I was skeptical at first on trying this. But I do not have the money to fix a small leak right now. The garage wanted $1000 to do it. I put this in and ran the engine as required. It has been three weeks and I no longer smell the anti freeze when I get out of my vehicle.

Had a small hole in a copper core radiator that was spraying coolant at the fan. Poured this product in, let it idle for 15-20 mins, drove it a couple miles and months later the leak is still sealed. I even had to drain the system recently for a new water pump and the product is still holding.

Used on a Ford 3.8L v-6 with the notorious timing cover leak. Works well. Needs to be replenished when coolant is changed. Can also plug radiator cap and create excessive pressure. Clean radiator cap periodically and all will be fine.

I used this product as directed and it has dramatically slowed the coolant leaks in my Chevy Venture. I've already been burned with all the gasket replacements on a Chevy Lumina and I'm not paying for that again. I purchased the liquid copper since it was marked "intake" but it turns out now my problem is probably a head gasket instead, doesn't matter it has made a huge improvement anyway. I also e-mailed some questions to Bar's Leaks and got great, prompt responses. If I'd known I was dealing with a head gasket I'd have used the heavier duty "Head Gasket Fix" instead. Bar's Leaks makes good stuff and I've had positive experiences with their products before, so this time when I was looking for help I went straight to Bar's Leaks and looked no further.

This didn't fix the leak in my heater core. I had seen and smelled antifreeze evaporating in through my front vents, and got this to hopefully avoid a costly repair. I think mine might have been too far gone, though. It seemed to work well enough when I put it in. For about two weeks, there was very little evaporation. But today it was billowing out much heavier than it was before. I don't think it's a problem with the product itself although it may not be particularly suited to heater cores over some other parts, but it's a complete bust for me.
