This flashlight is rubber coated and can withstand a beating. The light is extremely bright for a flashlight this small, and is a very white light. The ONLY bad thing I found was the metal retaining ring that holds it to the strap is VERY flimsy. I lost mine after just a few days because of it. I am going to buy a couple more tomorrow, but I am going to replace that ring on them all...and I recommend you do the same and buy a more heavy-duty ring, that holds it to the strap.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is the best Flashlight I have ever owned, it is very bright, and has a super long runtime. It is brighter than my Mag Light that I spent $25 on. I threw all my other worthless flashlights away and bought 6 more of these to put in my car, Garage and House. Highly recommend!!

I have found this flashlight has a better beam and is brighter than much more expensive lights in fact i replaced all of my flashlights with these and i bought 20 more for family members the old style pt lights were not very good but these are a great product.
