Dayco No Slack Idler/Tensioner Pulleys are built with smoother surfaces and tighter dimensional tolerances, which translates to less vibration and, therefore, longer belt life. Lubricated ball bearings and double high-temperature seals help ensure peak bearing performance, the most critical element of a pulley's service life. This specific "grooved", serpentine belt driven pulley contains specially formulated glass-filled polymers to help ensure a high-strength, cooler-running, wear-resistant "plastic" pulley.

Comments about Dayco No Slack Idler/Tensioner Pulley:

Pulley is slightly larger in diameter than the one that was in my 95 Jeep Cherokee 4.0. No problems installing. Works great in conjunction with a gatorback fan belt.

Comments about Dayco No Slack Idler/Tensioner Pulley:

Seems well made. Installed on 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Old pulley self-destructed and chewed up the mounting; I had to file this flat before the new pulley would fit straight.

Bolts right up to a 1999 Chrysler 300M. When changing the serpentine belt, I would also change this pulley too. Its just as good as OEM at a cheaper price.

                      I don't think so!

While changing the alternator I decided to install a new idler pulley. My Jeep has two but I just needed to replace one. Was a big surprise when I tried to install the bolt insert into the bearing. The diameter was about a millimeter too big to fit into the hole. Was not happy. I used the old insert as I couldn't return to AA it was closed.

I'm looking for an idler pulley, not a tensioner pulley. That said, is the idler pulley the same pulley used in the tensioner pulley assembly? Can the the same pulley be used in either place?

no the idler pulley isn't the same as a tensioner pulley. idler puller is smooth around and the tensioner pulley normally has the ribs in it for the inside of the serpentine belt

Looks to me that they are the same pulley except for the collar bushing is used for the static pulley and not the tensioner pulley.
