Comments about Liquid Wrench High-Mileage 5-Minute Motor Flush:

Excellent Product cleaned every gasket including head gasket.Best to use when engine is already warm unlike the bottle states cold best case scenario is to before an oil change drive the vehicle 5 to 10 miles to warm the engine at optimum temperature then turn off the engine next pour the contents into the oil filler cap and start the engine let it idle for 5 minutes with a stop watch (Do Not press gas pedal).then remove the filter and drain oil pan.Let it drain for 30 minutes then fill with fresh clean oil and idle for 30 seconds. One sad detail is it smells strongly of kerosene and will degrade paint.but it does removes rust from interior engine parts.Best to use every 3 or four oil changes

I'm sure it is a good product. I would have to do a tear down or at least drop the pan to actually see the true effects of the product. It works great as a parts cleaner so I am sure it is cleaning the inside of my engine.

Comments about Liquid Wrench High-Mileage 5-Minute Motor Flush:

It seems to work - the engine has never had any internal work, but a peek inside the valve cover through the filler hole reveals no gunk or grime at all, squeaky clean. I add a quart of Gunk before every oil change, run it for at least 5 minutes, no more than 10 minutes, and then drain it thoroughly. It drains faster because it thins the oil, and they say to be careful on high mileage cars since it could loosen up large deposits all at once. I've used it since the car was new in 1989, and it now has just under 600,000 miles on it. I'd say it's working, though luck and other factors certainly play a role.

THis product does work and is safe as long as before you add the product you are FULL on oil it just acts as a cleaner nothing more not another quart of oil just a thin cleaner.

This will do what it states it will do,clean out the gunk build-up. It doesn't tell you that it is not safe for your engine. See Q&A's for more details. And a better/SAFER way to clean and refresh any engine.

I would not suggest you for the Liquid Wrench High-Mileage 5-Minute Motor Flush as this works to remove sludge and varnish to free sticky valves, rings and drain passages. You may have an issue with the drain valve in the oil filter housing, but it sounds most like a bad gerator pump (low pressure oil pump). However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

            • Q:

my car has about 110k miles, and I got the car when it was about 90k miles. I normally use full synthetic oil. I was thinking about using one of these products right before oil change. I get mix feeling from the answers here.
Basically I wanted to know if I put this product in my car, and drive to get oil change which is like 10 miles away; will it do any adverse effect to my car engine given that my car won't be in the idle state for about 10-15 mins?
Also if my engine gets damaged by using this product, does the manufacturer pay for the new engine?
              thanks

                A:

This Liquid Wrench High-Mileage 5-Minute Motor Flush with Part No. MF3 is safe to use in your 100K+ mile car. It is recommended to only run it for 5 minutes and then dump the oil and you have to do that in Idle and NOT when driving. When you are not draining the Gunk after use, it might create problems. So follow the instructions and use this Motor flush and you will see the difference. Sorry, the manufacturer will not pay for any of the losses occurred.

                A:

Any engine flush is based on diesel byproducts. If flush is left in the system, it will remove some gunk and soften anything remaining, BUT the oil will not be so effective as lubricant as it will be dissolved and on top of that all the dirt will be recirculated in the system. Now any additional additives in the flush could be reactive with some metals or can degrade any rubber parts or gaskets in the system. It is better to drain the engine from flush and old oil and if you are not happy with the result flush it one more time.

                A:

No, this Solder Seal/Gunk High-Mileage 5-Minute Motor Flush with part# MF3 will not damage a high mileage engine as it breaks down the deposits that normally develop in the combustion chamber and components of the heads. Add the HIGH MILEAGE ENGINE FLUSH by Gunk to your engine oil, then you let your vehicle idle for about 10-15 minutes. After the vehicle has idled for the amount of time given, you change your oil.The flush is suppose to help remove the oil sludge that builds up inside your engine.

Yes, it is easy. Before you do your oil change, you add the contents of one bottle to your engine oil. Start the engine and let it run 5 minutes. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR WITH THE ENGINE FLUSH IN THE OIL! Drain your oil. Install new oil filter and oil and Viola! A clean engine.

The back of the package will state that it contains patrolem distilants, smell it... yup, kerosine. Good way to clean out any gunk build up,but it thins out your oil to a Very damaging grade. Your better off switching your oil to a multi grade synthetic(10w30--> 5w30 or 0w30),the syn.will lubircate better, and the lower grade will flow better.Cleaning out build up w/in a few changes. And it lasts longer.Performance you can feel.

I have used Gunk Motor Flush before almost every oil change in my 1990 Mustang GT with no problems since the car was new, just pour it in like you would the oil, start the car and let the motor run for 5 mins. and then change oil and filter. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR WITH THIS IN THE OIL. My Mustang has about 200,000 miles on it and I drive it to work and home every day. Great product when used correctly, I have used this on other cars I own too and never had any problems!
