The strut is basically a stock replacement of one that has exceeded its lifespan. The install was and easy down easy up procedure with the simple snag of the brake line. The strut has a bracket welded to it to install the flex brake hose. I am not a fan of ripping apart aging brake lines to do this job so a notch was cut with a cut off wheel where the flex hose mounts to so 1/2 the bracket could be bent out of the way and bent back. After that removal and install were a breeze.

Replaced the rear struts myself with these 3 years ago and both are now leaking and failing. One has lost all damping and the other is slowly getting worse. Fortunately, they have a lifetime warranty. Hope the replacements last more than 3 years.
I agree with the other posting about the brake lines. I did the same thing.

Comments about Monroe Gas-Matic Strut:
I purchased this for my mothers car. With 125,000 miles her struts were worn out and needed replacement. I am a novice mechanic and had no problem installing this product. The result was a 14 year old car that that rides as if it were new again.

These are great on my 96 Corolla. Even better because I got them on sale. I was looking for a complete set of gas charged rear shocks for right at $100 and I found it in these during an online sale.

Comments about Monroe Gas-Matic Strut:
Easy to install, you will need to cut a slit in the mounting bracket for the brake line to remove and reinstall. This will keep you from having to disconnect the brake lines and having to bleed them. Be sure to make reference mark on the top of the strut mount and the top on the strut itself with a marker or something so that you can align and reinstall properly

A:
Very easy, if you have a jack and can remove a tire from the car you can replace your struts. You will need some basic hand tools/wrenches/socket set - metric/sae hacksaw blade and spring compressors. You can get the spring compressores from Advance for free. You just leave a deposit and when you return the spring compressors they refund your deposit.A:
Not too bad to tell ya the truth. Air tools will come in handy, so if you don't have an impact wrench, it would be a good idea to get one. If you don't have an air compressor, there are electric impact wrenches too.
