Comments about Airtex Fuel Pump Module Assembly:
This unit has only been installed for about 2 weeks but there have been no problems and the car runs and drives just as it did before the old pump failed. [...] included all parts and pieces needed to complete the swap.

Q:
I have jacked up my GMC AND TESTED THE ELECTRICITY COMING TO THE PUMP. i AM GETTING 5.6 TO 6 VOLTS FROM THE LEADS COMING TO THE PUMP.IS THIS THE RIGHT VOLTAGE FROM A 12 VOLT SYSTEM. I NOTICED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FUSE HAS A PICTURE OF A RESISTER ON IT WHICH MAY DROP THE VOLTAGE DOWN. I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS RIGHT OR WRONG. PLEASE HELP. AT 261.00 I DON'T WANT TO BUY A PUMP I DON'T NEED. THE FILTER IS REPLACED AND ENGINE WANTS TO START WITH STARTER FLUID.1 answer

A:
No, its not the right voltage you should be getting. First, check the voltage at the battery. You should have 12VDC when you crank the engine over. It will stay at 12 VDC for 3-5 seconds after you stop cranking the engine. If you have access to a 12 volt power supply you can test the fuel pump by touching the 2 terminals on the left side of the 4 pin connector with 12 volts. It should come on . If not test the pump by applying 12 vdc directly to the 2 pins on the fuel pump. If it runs, the pump is good. If it doesn't the pump is bad.
