Comments about Dorman - Help Auto Trans Detent Cable:

This was cheap and it was reflected in the quality.
Broke at top end trying to install.
Returned to store and bought one elsewhere at a higher price and much higher quality.

Comments about Dorman - Help Auto Trans Detent Cable:

the product was cheaply priced and came shrink wrapped so i know it was new. upon installation in the truck the slider was found to be defective and would completely pop out upon extension like the cable was too short. the throttle cable clip would not stay on the throttle and would fall off when the throttle returned to position. there were slices cut out of the cable sheath, how could this pass QA inspection and be wrapped for sale? had i not lived 30 miles away it would have been returned. i took a loss on it, go get one thats OEM, it will be worth it to save the headache.

        A:

If your vehicle has the stock brackets, stock intake and carburetor if it's pulling out when you hit the throttle, then the cable may be of defective.

We do not have this Automatic Detent Cable available online for your vehicle. I would suggest visiting a local Advance Auto Parts store where they may be able to special order it for you.

will this cable change the shift points on my transmission.

        A:

Cables do not have anything to do with shift points. If you want to change the shift points, other work is needed. One way to change the shift points is to reprogram the transmission settings and the other way is to rebuild the transmission itself.
