Does the job... used the sealant on my snowblower tire that came off the rim. Wish it came in a smaller bottle, though. Only needed 1/4 of the bottle to do the job.

                A:

This Xtra Seal Bead Sealer with part# 14-101  is a special rubber hoop that fits over the rim and assists in filling the tire with air. By filling the gap between the rim and the tire bead, the bead seater holds air in while the tire is inflated.

If the bead is what is leaking and it not that big of leak, this sealer may help but there is no guarantee.

This will not fix a flat. This is a wheel balance weight.

              • A:

The previous answer by Kevin from AAP surely must be a joke. Maybe Kevin has been sniffing too much bead sealer. This product is not a tire wheel weight.

In answer to your question, yes, the bead sealer will normally seal tires that are leaking around the bead, and lawn equipment tires are notorious for this. There also may be another reason for loss of air other than an obvious puncture wound. Sometimes when the tires are a few years old they will dry rot and leak through very small holes in the other areas of the tires, especially the sidewalls.

I went to a True Value store and purchased intertubes for my rear tires on my mower since the sidewalls were leaking from sun damage. It worked perfectly!
