This unit is able to be handheld as a flashlight or can sit on its back or side to provide ilumination upwards towards the ceiling or towards a wall. The unit has a magnetic button mounted in the back which allows the unit to stick against a steel surface. Great to have on the refrigerator for an emergency power outage. Nice work lamp for under the hood of a car when extra hands free light is desired. The unit has a plastic hang hook that folds into the back and can be pulled out to use for hanging the unit above a work space. Handy when camping with its versatility; able to sit on a surface to iluminate, ablity to fit in the palm of your hand, small, lightweight, lower power cosumption with led's, alot of light with led's, hanging ability, and magnetic mounting ability. I almost forgot to mention batteries included! Small head philips screwdriver needed to open the unit to change batteries. I bought 5 units prior to Hurricane Sandy for each member of the family. I've place one in glove compartment of my cars.
