Comments about Schumacher 6/2 Amp Battery Charger/Maintainer:

First off, this unit is MANUAL CHARGE ONLY, it says so right on the box. This does not have auto-off, or "trickle" charge function, so do not leave it charging a battery for days/weeks, you will damage the charger, battery, or start a fire. It also does not have "jump-start" feature like a more expensive unit... This is only a 6-Amp (for automotive/large batteries) or 2-Amp (for lawn/garden/sport-craft batteries) charger. Instructions state clearly: "Do not leave charger attached to a battery for more than 8-hours"

Now for the "good".... It does the job topping up a monthly charge on my lawnmower, motorcycle, and ATV batteries during the off-season... I simply hook it up on the 2-Amp setting and let it charge for a couple of hours (watching Amp gauge to tell when charge is reached) for each battery. I've been doing this for three off-seasons, and never had a problem with charger or any of my batteries. Each battery I monthly "top-off" works perfectly when I need it to in the Spring.

I've even used this charger to charge the battery in my son's car when he left the lights on all day. In about 2-3 hours it had enough charge to start the car without dragging. I'm sure it would have fully charged the battery in 4-6 hours.

I've never used the 6-volt setting, but I'm sure if I had an antique car with a 6-volt system, it would do just fine.

I purchased this intending to use it to maintain a trickle charge on some winter equipment. It is strictly a manual charger and you must time how long it is connected. I returned for a different dedicated battery maintainer.

                      A:

Yes, you can charge 2 batteries with the Schumacher 2/6 Amp 12/6-Volt Battery Charger/Maintainer - Part No. SE-82-6. However the two batteries should be connected to each other positive to positive and negative to negative. Then attach the charger positive to the positive on one battery and the negative to the negative of the other battery. Do not hook both leads up to one battery. It will obviously take longer to charge two batteries than it will to charge one. This part is a manual charger and you must keep a visual check on the ammeter to determine when the battery is charged. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto store and one of our representatives will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
