Comments about Autocraft Lawn & Garden 12-Volt Small Engine -Lawn and Garden, Tractor, Maintenance- Free Battery:

Having to replace my riding mower battery in 2008 I bought one of these. That year I noticed the battery would considerably weaken even if I only ran the mower maybe once a month. THe problem was worse in 2009 and 2010 when I had to charge the battery several times throughout the summer. By 2011 it would barely hold a charge and I read several of the reviews here and realized that I too experienced many of the same issues other people have. So this month March 2012 I returned to AAutoparts to see if there was a better battery. They said no but the salesman assured me it was a quality product and that I should buy a 35 dollar battery tender to keep on the battery during the winter months to prolong the battery life. I bought a new battery with a manufacture date of 8/2011. I got it home and hooked it up. Dead battery. I immediately returned it to the store and the same salesman began cursing and muttering something about a bad batch of batteries. They replaced the battery with one with a manufacture date of March 2012, this month. I took the battery home and it BARELY had enough juice to start the mower. It seems AAutoparts and their staff refuse to acknowledge that this is an incredibly cheap and worthless product. I would be willing to pay more for a quality product, but since it seems they won't carry them, when I have to replace this battery in the next year or so I will be taking my business elsewhere. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IT'S not worth the trouble you will have with it.

When my original battery died on my Cub Cadet,I needed a replacement immediately.I took a chance with this one, simply due to price and convenience of store location.I'll never make that mistake again.Yeah, this battery worked just fine for about three months.I charged it up and it worked fine again. Then, after that initial charge,it was dead! Would no longer hold its charge.I'm extremely disappointed in this battery.I'm even more disappointed, that Advance would sell such an inferior product.A one star rating is far too kind for this garbage!

A 4 or 5-digit shipping date code is engraved into the cover of each Interstate battery at the time the battery is shipped. This code can only be seen when looking down on the top of the battery. The code is not on the label on the battery and it is not on the rim around the cover. The code is usually near one of the corners of the battery. This code tells when the battery was shipped from the factory to the local Interstate Battery wholesale distributor. The additional digits tell where the battery was made. The first digit from the left side is a letter which stands for the month of the year. A = January; B = February; C = March, etc. The second digit from the left is the year that the battery was shipped from the factory. 4 = 2004, 5 = 2005, 6 = 2006, 7 = 2007, 8 = 2008, 9 = 2009, 0 = 2010, 1 = 2011, 2 = 2012, etc. For further assistance, please feel free to call us at 1-877-238-2623 or visit your nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our representatives would be more than happy to assist you.

I need to recharge my battery and I need to know if it has a positive ground or a negative ground so I can hook it up right. Does anyone know?
