This was recommended for starting my boat [...] After less than 2 seasons it has died. I kept a trickle charge on it during the winter. Put it in the boat last week for boating season and it would not start. Had it fully charged and still nothing. Took it in and was determined to be a bad cell. Less than two years is all you will get out of this one as a starting battery. I used it for just to crank up my 140 hp I/O boat. Could have been mis-applied (better for a trolling motor), but it was the recommended battery for my application. [...]

Comments about Autocraft Marine 12-Volt Marine/RV Deep-Cycle Service Battery:
Bought this as a replacment for the dead battery on our "new to us" travel trailer. For those who don't know, in this application the battery runs the trailer brakes while going down the road, as well as the fridge, lights, and all the 110V appliances/outlets in the camper. Sounds impressive, but it's not. When the camper is attached to a correctly wired 7 blade RV plug, the vehicle's electrical system constantly charges the RV battery. When the camper is plugged in to a 20 amp or 30 amp service (like at a camp sight or at home), that system takes over and powers the camper as well as charging the RV battery. In otherwords, unless you're doing primitive camping, the RV battery doesn't get much use.
The battery fit the current battery box just fine no surprise there. That was really the only goal. Other than that, the battery is brand new and working fine. Battery reviews should really wait a few years so that the customer can give accurate feedback on the batteries lifespan and ability to hold charge in cold weather. Can't comment on those items since the battery is new.

Comments about Autocraft Marine 12-Volt Marine/RV Deep-Cycle Service Battery:
The battery is a good value, but not what I really need, which is a battery with a lot of storage capacity. The cold cranking amps rating is really not important for RV use. Instead you should emphasize amp hour capacity. I am using this battery for RV power and charging with solar panels. This battery is probably better suited for boat use. Would be nice if Advance Auto would carry a battery especially designed for RV use.

Comments about Autocraft Marine 12-Volt Marine/RV Deep-Cycle Service Battery:
I use the battery for a backup system in case the power goes off. It powers a 400 Watt inverter. This provides 110 Volts AC. It will greatly extend the reserve power from my original system. My original system was two garden tractor batteries. The advantage of the Marine Deep Cycle battery is it's ability to maintain 12 Volts even while being almost totally discharged. Most other auto or garden tractor batteries do not have this property. They drop below 12 Volts quickly as they discharge and require more frequent charging.

Comments about Autocraft Marine 12-Volt Marine/RV Deep-Cycle Service Battery:
I used this with a 1600 Watt inverter to power my fridge for about 10 minutes every 4 hours to keep the temperature at 40 degrees during Sandy. Along with a few bags of ice it lasted about two days, which was pretty good, but I hoped to get three days.

This works great for my little trolling motor on my sailboat. Comes with a good warranty and performed very well right out of the store. This should last a good while!

How can i determine if the water level in the battery is below the plates and needs water?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Instructions to check battery water level: 1. Prepare a solution of one tablespoon of baking soda and about eight ounces of warm water using a foam cup. 2. Open the hood of your car and put on a pair of latex gloves and safety glasses to keep battery acid off your hands and eyes during the inspection procedure. 3. Apply the solution to the top of the battery with a soft brush to remove dust, grease and acid residue. Wipe clean the battery with a paper towel. Cleaning the battery will prevent contamination of the water inside the battery during inspection and neutralize any acid residue. 4. Pry off the vent caps from the top of the battery with a standard screwdriver and carefully wipe clean any dirt around the battery filler holes with a clean paper towel. 5. Look through the battery filler holes and check that the water level covers the top of the battery plates and separators. If necessary, use a flashlight to help you see the actual water level. If your battery has fill rings, which are basically an extension of the filler hole walls and are used as a level indicator, make sure the water level reaches the bottom of the fill rings. 6. Add distilled water to every cell or battery filler hole to cover the top of the battery plates and separators, or to bring the level up to the bottom of the fill rings, if necessary. 7. Replace the vent caps on the battery, throw away the latex gloves and close the hood. So I see here it's told the amp hours are: Part No. 24DC-1 has the following specifications: At 20 hour it is 85 Amp hour and at 5 hour it is 72 Amp hour. by john the car doc. so that means 85 / 20 hours that they were testing at 4.25 amps. I want to use this battery pulling a 3 amps load so I bought it and at 553 CCA and being full (checked before I turned on the lights), it only would run a 3 amp load (xmas lights) for 1 1/2 hours before it got below 11 volts and shut off. WHY?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
The Autocraft Marine 12-Volt Marine/RV Deep-Cycle Service Battery (Part No. DC-1) is rated for a 85amp hour/20 hour usage as stated, and based on your draw of 3 amp/hr you should be able to get more than 20 hours out of the battery. I believe you may have a defective battery and may want to bring it into your local store for a check and possible exchange.
