Q:I am having trouble with the beads on my tires leaking on my 2010 ford fusion. I have had it back twice to where I bought the tires. They have cleaned the rims and remounted them but they still leak. I have aluminum rims and they have told me they are corroded and that's why they don't seal. Would this product help me get a good seal?
A:Happy to answer your question Tomthetire! This bead sealer is generally used upon initial tire installation. It is not an adhesive, it is more to lubricate the bead of the tire so it seats. If the lip of your wheel is corroded and not seating the tire can possibly be sanded to smoothen the mounting surface. I suggest having a tire shop or have your local dealership have a look to asses the situation with your wheels and tires; it may pose a safety risk.
Q:I'm looking for "bead lube" ... which I'm guessing is a sealant and lube. Is this enough? I heard some shops use clean motor oil for mounting and dismount tires. I'm asking because I'm going to do my first tire job and wanted some advice. Thanks
A:I'm happy to help, Jose M! Xtra Seal Xtra Slik Bead Lube (Part No. 14-753) can be used to install the tire on the wheel. This Xtra Seal 32 Oz. Hd Bead Seal (Part No. 14-101A) will help with wheels that may leak air when the tire is installed.
