  • Q:

I have a 1965 Rambler Ambassador with 4 drum manual brakes which I want to convert to power brakes. If I purchased a cardone remanufactured (exact fit) power brake booster plus an (exact fit) master cylinder what else would I need to make the conversion complete? Thank you.

      A:

With reference to this Cardone Remanufactured Power Brake Booster - part# 54-73506, with the power brake booster and master cylinder you would need a new brake pedal. The new pedal will have to travel a much shorter distance to effectively stop the vehicle, brake fluid reservoirs, a brake force distribution block and perhaps a proportioning valve that determines how much braking force goes to the front and the rear wheels. However, this is not a do-it-yourself project for novice. I would suggest you to get assistance from a certified mechanic in order to avoid intermittence. For any further assistance, you may also visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and one of our representatives there would be more than happy to assist you.
