Comments about Wearever Unloaded Vacuum Power Brake Booster - Domestic:

I installed on 2000 Chrysler Concorde LXi. The install for the 54-73176 is fairly straight forward. However, the previous comments about the pedal push rod being too short are not correct. Brake lights remained on with pedal fully released because the brake light switch was not properly adjusted. Remove brake light switch by turning switch 30 degrees CC as viewed from rear and pulling switch out of bracket. Pull plunger out to its ratcheted end of travel, about ½". Reinstall switch with brake pedal depressed. Gently push back on pedal until it reaches fully released position. Plunger on brake light switch ratchets to its correct off position as pedal is pushed back to its fully released position. This adjustment has to be done almost every time I install a booster.
I repeat there is nothing wrong with the pedal push rod length of this booster. I would gladly recommend it to a friend.

Comments about Wearever Unloaded Vacuum Power Brake Booster - Domestic:

Brake booster seems to work great. The only problem is that the rod is too short for the brake pedal. I had to fabricate a spacer so the the brake light switch would work. I'm really disappointed that they had not corrected the connection rod length issue. I had to spend too much time trying to figure out a way to correct a problem that if the part was made to specification in the first place it would have cut my installation time.

Comments about Wearever Unloaded Vacuum Power Brake Booster - Domestic:

          Not sure of product performance.
Brake performance may start out with high pedal and gradually goes soft. Or pedal is soft at start, then more firm, then goes soft to the floor. Had same performance from old booster.
Master cylinder is full, no evidence of fluid leaks. Am checking out each wheel cylinder and caliper.

I had a Chryser manual that made installation go smooth. I admire the enginers that design cars so that items like this can be changed when needed. Fit was snug but not really difficult.

          • Q:

I have excessive free play in the brakes after installing this part, is there a way to adjust the length of the rod that attaches to the brake pedal? In addition to the feel of free play the brake pedal when attached will not release enough to turn off the brake light
