For being parking brake shoes they seem to work nicely. Not that I use my parking brake all that much but it's nice to know it's there when I need it. I was kind of astonished to find a drum assembly inside the rotor. I never knew they made combination rotor drums let alone that they're still being used. Putting the new ones on proved to be easier than taking the old ones off due to what I can only guess the prior owner must have drove around with the parking brake engaged which in turn wore a groove on the inside of the rotor.

These parking brake shoes appear to be of decent quality, but they are NOT an "exact match" for my 2002 Ford Explorer XLT (4L V6). The tabs at the top of each shoe are not machined the same way as the original parts. They will not sit properly in the grooves next to the parking brake actuator. This makes the installed diameter of the two shoes way too large to fit inside the drum on the back of the brake rotor. Too big by almost 0.25". My '02 Explorer is an "early build" (built 4/2001), so your mileage may vary. The "exact match" flag on the Advance Auto website is NOT CORRECT. I will be seeking a refund.

Broke right out of the box

By

from Elkin NC

Comments about Wearever Parking Brake Shoe:

When I was comparing the parts to see if they would fit, I noticed that the hook for the top spring on the shoe was broken. So I had to go back to the store to get another box and seen that that same hook was bent on the other pads. They also do not have much material on them.

On my 2004 Jeep Liberty they are used for the parking brake. Once it unfroze the brake cable the shoes went on in no time.

    The shoe don't fit!

Comments about Wearever Parking Brake Shoe:

Supposed to be an exact fit for my Ford Windstar and obviously is not. These shoes are half the size of the shoes already on the Van. I am scepticle of the idea that these little brake shoes were made for a Van of any kind.

Comments about Wearever Parking Brake Shoe:

The shoes are fine for parking breaks. My only problem is that one of the shoes was missing a mounting hole for the spring. I had to locate and drill the hole out my self. It wasn't a problem because I had the tools and know how to correct the problem but others may not.

I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I put new brake pads , rotors and parking brake on the rear end. All went well, but the install of the parking brake can be tricky. You have to have it just perfect so the rotor will slide on. It is a very well built parking brake !!!

The pins and attachment hyardware were not included. I reused the springs and pins with no problem. The core charge is only refunded if you produce the receipt as the info is not held at the store's computer when you buy from the web site.
