I find it hard to give a decent review on a product that I've only had in use for a few weeks but here goes: I bought this brand on recommendation from a friend that does a lot of interstate driving. They were his second choice but they were what I could get within a rather short timeframe. They were also more expensive; I paid for the need to have them sooner rather than later.

Installation was very easy. It took longer to find something to pin down the compression pin than it did to install the pads. I took them for a test drive and initially liked them. On easy braking, I didn't have a problem. If I had to stop hard, I had to push the pedal to the floorboards and pray. After about a week and a half of use, I noticed that I wasn't having to push so hard or start slowing down at 1/2 a mile away.

Being a car neophyte, my best guess is either that the pads had a residue from manufacturing that had to be worn off or the prior pads left some serious gunk on the rotors that had to be cleared before these got a good grip. Either way, I'm happy with the purchase and would likely go with this brand again if I couldn't get to the number one choice.

If you're considering these, I have a warning: check the box before you leave the store. The gent before me had to come back for replacements because his box had two pads for the same side instead of one for each.

The picture shows the stainless steel brackets and package of lubricant. I specifically looked for these to be included with the pads I purchased. I returned to product to Endwell NY store expecting a packaging issue and was informed they they do not come with the pads and that was just a generic picture for the brakes pads. The advanced associate did exchange for platinum pads with brackets and lube at no cost but I had to push hard to make that happen. The associate thought I should have known some how. It was not a plea sent experience for me and I did not get the job done when I wanted to. Bottom line call to verify what your getting don't trust the pictures of the product being advertised on line.

Comments about Wearever Gold Ceramic Brake Pads - Front (4-Pad Set):

Due to limited time, I opted to have the pads installed by a repair facility, rather than doing the installation on my own. I selected this item based on being OE quality but also weighed in that these are being installed on a vehicle with 198,000 and will need to be "retired" in another year, and a "top of the line wasn't necessary. After driving about 500 miles with the new pads, all seem fine with them, and I haven't experienced any concerns with them, even first thing in the morning, after the vehicle has sat outside overnight.

With every brake replacement I do on the three family vehicles, I nearly always get the Wearever Gold Ceramic brake pads. I have yet to have an issue with the pads and the installation of the brake pads goes smoothly and without any issues. I typically clean up the slides on the calipers and 'buff' the pads where they contact the slides to improve there performance and prevent sticking once installed. The one aspect of the brake pads that would improve my level of satisfaction , would be if a complete kit with the new slides and brake grease could be included in the package without greatly adding to the cost.

I bought these for a 2002 Buick Century and was replacing the original pads which had 35K miles on them. I did not change the rotors ( since the car only has 35K miles) and these Wearever Gold Pads were not bad. Not the best I have ever used but not the cheapest either. And the price from Advanced was excellent.

                  • CUSTOMER CARE

                    A:

Proper Brake Pad Bedding (or Break-In Procedure) is essential to the performance and longevity of your new brakes. Taking the time to properly bed in your brake pads will allow them to perform at their full potential. The complete bedding in of brake pads is a process that usually takes between 300-500 miles depending on the type of driving you do, but following the recommended procedure directly after installation is of utmost importance. In simple terms, bedding your brake pads allows the pads to mate with the rotors uneven surfaces. Even brand new brake rotors are covered with microscopic scratches, grooves, and imperfections that must be worn down to create as much surface area as possible for the pads to come in contact with. As your brake pads bed in, they contour to fit every imperfection in the rotors. BELOW ARE BASIC INSTRUCTIONS TO HELP BED IN YOUR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS CORRECTLY: 1). Immediately after installation, you will notice that the first few stops on your new brakes will result in very little braking power. Be careful not to apply the brakes hard enough to overheat the pads or rotors and be very careful not to drive in traffic right away. 2). Bring the vehicle up to 60 mph and lightly apply the brakes a few seconds at a time to bring them up to temperature. Do not try to stop the vehicle at this time, only to start to bed them in and get them to operating temperature. 3). After getting them warmed up, make a series of 8-10 near-stops. Do this by firmly pressing the brake pedal from about 60 mph down to about 10 mph not allowing the vehicle to come to a complete stop. If you allow the vehicle to come to rest, you run the risk of allowing hot brake pad material to imprint to the rotors and inhibit the bed in procedure. Allow a minute or two between near-stops to help regulate brake temperatures. After you have completed these near-stops drive the vehicle at road speed long enough to allow the brakes to cool down, and repeat the series of 8-10 near stops again. 4). For the next few hundred miles drive normally, trying not to overheat them. Repeated high speed stops will increase the risk of damaging brake pads and rotors permanently, so extra care during break in is recommended. 5). To see how your bedding progress is going, look through your wheel spokes at the brake rotors. In the beginning stages of break in, you will notice uneven and even rough areas on the brake rotors. As break in is completed the rotors will become increasingly smooth and shiny, until they are completely smooth in appearance.(After the break-in cycle, there should be a slight blue tint and a light gray film on the rotor face. The blue tint tells you the rotor has reached break-in temperature and the gray film is pad material starting to transfer onto the rotor face. The best braking occurs when there is an even layer of pad material deposited across the rotors. This minimizes squealing, increases braking torque, and maximizes pad and rotor life.).
For compatibility of this part with your vehicle, please provide your vehicle make, model and engine specification.
