Wearever Drum Brake Wheel Cylinder

Part No. W37778 Warranty

See if this part fits a specific vehicle.

Check Vehicle Fit

Direct replacement Wheel Cylinders are designed to fit specific vehicle applications and to ensure a proper fit every time. Normal wear may cause piston seals to leak. Corrosion and pitting can also occur inside Wheel Cylinders as moisture builds up in the brake fluid. A leaky Wheel Cylinder can be dangerous to the driver, causing gradual softening of the brake pedal and creating brake pull to one side.

Product Features:
  • All Wheel Cylinders are made with high quality EPDM rubber cups and boots for long lasting performance
  • Wheel Cylinder bores are surface tested to ensure an optimum sealing surface for the pressure cups
  • Due to repair time and cost, it is more desirable to replace instead of repair Wheel Cylinders
  • Recommended replacement is suggested when servicing drum brake

Comments about Tru-Torque Drum Brake Wheel Cylinder:

This product works very well. I've had it on the car for about two weeks now, with no problems. It wasn't an easy fit, though. But a little persuasion with a large screwdriver, I was able to persuade it into place. I would definetly buy this again.

Factory brake line did not fit wheel cylinder on 99 Cavalier. I had to make another trip back to the store to get a piece of brake line with the right fittings.

            • Q:

Which side does this part fit?
If it fits both sides then why can't it be clearly listed as doing so?
The heading says "left rear", and when you click "More" (info) it says that it fits both sides. What good is information if it isn't clear?

Sorry for the confusion caused. This Tru-Torque Drum Brake Wheel Cylinder - part# W37677 is for rear and it fits for both driver side(left) and passenger side(right).

            • Q:

The original 'bolts' that hold the cylinder onto the wheel backing plate appear to be star or "Torx". I've tried everything I can think of to get them loose, but nothing I've tried so far fits with one exception...a 1/4 inch hex socket, but it won't grip it to turn it since it's 6 sided. I've tried an E-8 external Torx socket, but it's too small. The E-10 is too large and there apparently is no such thing as an E-9, so what do I need to get these things off?

The dimensions of the wheel cylinder are as follows : Bore Size : 11/16", Inlet Thread Size : M10x1 and it will fit only in the rear portion.

I think the wheel cylinder mounting cap screws are US standard (USS), 1/4"-20 tpi bolts. ("TPI" stands for threads per inch.) If I'm wrong about them being standard thread, they may be metric, and if so, they are most likely 6mm x 1.0. Honestly, the best thing to do is take your wheel cylinder and try threading a bolt into one of the threaded mounting holes by hand. The correct bolt will thread right into place with little to no effort. The length of the bolts are likely around 1/2" long or so. I'm sorry that I don't remember specifically if they are standard or metric, but if I were a bettin' man, I'd bet they are the US standard thread.
