Comments about Wearever Brake Drum - Rear:

This brake drum was bought for my 2001 Mercury Sable. It was an exact replacement of the one I removed and was very easy to install. There were no unforeseen complications during installation. This Wearever rear brake drum has been installed on my vehicle for approximately 10 days. During that time I have driven about 1,500-2,000 miles and am extremely satisfied with the performance of the product. I have not noticed ANY difference in the way the replacement performs compared to the original manufacturers equipment. Should the need arise I would definitely purchase another Wearever rear brake drum.

Comments about Wearever Brake Drum - Rear:

I was impressed with how much they looked like the factory originals and were easy to replace.
I replace the shoes at the same time and now do not hear any squeeling when backing out of my driveway in the mornings.

I got about 35,000 New York city type miles out of these drums before needing to replace. Even though they had a lot of "meat" on them they go out of round as they age causing pulsation.

is it just the brake drums and the shoes to replace the rear wheels? Are there any other pieces to replacing the rear that I should know of?

Hi! great question! While replacing brake drum and brake shoes, it is recommended to check the existing brake drum hardware and replace it with a brake drum repair kit which includes springs, retainers.

the HAYNES Manual has a really good detailed description of steps for your make and model with pics. Even if your engine is a bit different from the book its your brakes...it will still be the same steps. Also internet videos! Go crazy watching as many as possible see differences among everyone. BUT safe bet if you want it basic and need to fix something you may have put wrong, you can keep it in the car.

These are brand new drums ready for installation. All you need to do to them before installation is clean off the oil that is on them used for rust prevention and maybe scuff up the inside surface where the shoes apply to better help the shoes set right.
