Comments about Wearever Brake Caliper Unloaded Caliper w/Bracket -Domestic:

I installed these on my wife's daily driver, a 2004 Saturn Vue. They fit perfectly, and installed quickly and easily. I ordered online and picked them up in a local store. That made it easy to return the core, which I did the same day. Be sure to use thread locker on the mounting bolts. I didn't and I ended up losing one from the car about a week later. Everything else besides thread locker was included in the box and the install couldn't have been simpler. Buy brake fluid with these also; you will need to add some after you remove the old calipers - they hold quite a bit in them!

Today will be the second time this week that I received this product and found the quality of workmanship unacceptable. Just last night I returned the defective caliper that I first purchased. My wife found that another Advance Auto Store had this in stock and picked it up for me during the day. When I inspected this caliper at home I found that one of the piston dust boots was not properly installed in the casting. It was protruding way out and is cocked. Also, the guide pin action is a bit tight.

            Caliper Guide Pins Bind

Comments about Wearever Brake Caliper Unloaded Caliper w/Bracket -Domestic:

Upon unpacking this product, I inspected it carefully and found that I could not budge the caliper at all by hand. Even using a pry bar the caliper was binding on the guide pins. Whatever the reason is (bent guide pin, tight tolerance) this is unacceptable. A human life will be depending on this part for highway safety so I'll say it again - this is unacceptable!

When an item has a core charge and I have shipped to my home do I return core to a local store or mail back to Advanced?

Happy to answer your question Nancy! For core charges with ship to home orders they can be returned to a local store or shipped back to use. Most customers prefer to return parts to the store because you can get the credit back faster. It can be sent back to us but you would have to cover the shipping as well.

Hi Nancy, good question! To receive your Core Charge refund, you can do either of the following:

*Bring the part to any Advance Auto Parts store along with your receipt or packing slip.

*Mail the part back to Advance Auto Parts following the directions on your packing slip.
