Comments about Wearever Brake Caliper Unloaded Caliper - Domestic:

I purchased the Wearever Brake Caliper for a 1979 corvette I recently purchased to restore. I needed to replace the old brake caliper because it was leaking so badly, puddles formed under the car. Instalation on the right rear was simple. An efficient person could easily finish the job in under an hour. Basic hand tools were all that I needed to get the job done right. After instalation, my corvette stops much better. If I end up having to replace the other side, I will not hesitate to purchase another of this brand.

It's amazing how one can pick up the phone or get on line and discover that the local Advance Auto store has a caliper in stock for a 41 year old car!

I've replaced all 4 calipers on my car. 2 of them failed and one of them in downtown Chicago 120 miles from home. Good parts to put on your ex- wifes car!

        • Q:

Do the disc brake calipers SLC 140 & SLC 141 have stainless steel sleeves inserted in the bores during the remanufacturing process?
          Are they Delco castings?

            A:

Hi Jim, good question! I apologize we are unable to find the exact castings that is used with the remanufacturing process. Delco did make a lot of Chevrolets parts, so it is very possible that it will be a Delco casting number. However, it is still possible that it may not be if GM did not use Delco at some point for these calipers. These calipers does come with Stainless steel sleeved bores.

Yes, you can use stainless steel sleeve or a copper washer can also be used. Do not tighten completely until after the caliper is installed.
