Comments about Wearever Brake Caliper Unloaded Caliper - Domestic:

The brake caliper parts were a perfect fit for my 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 truck. The parts were easy to install and took about the advertised time of 30 minutes to exchange, remove and install, not including tire removal and mounting. The parts worked well after test driving after the installation. I was completely satisfied with the parts as replacement items.

Comments about Wearever Brake Caliper Unloaded Caliper - Domestic:

I purchased the left and right rear calipers. The right one was a good rebuild product. The left rear caliper was a very bad rebuild. The face of the left caliber piston had been beat with a hammer. Where the the brake line block mounts to the caliper. The caliper was beat with a hammer. When I tested the connection it had a bad leak. I had to take the caliper back off and file the sealing face. So the gasket would seal. After that it held. For the price of these calipers you would expect a better quality rebuild. I was very disappointed in this product.

Comments about Wearever Brake Caliper Unloaded Caliper - Domestic:

Easy to install. Beware of the torque specs listed with this caliper. It recommends 12-15 lbs of torque on the bleeder screw but really you can expect more like 25-30 lbs in order for it not to leak. Also make sure to have properly bleed the brake lines. You must also torque the banjo bolt very tight. These are leak prone due to the soft washers that they use with them. With all this said install was easy and I was surprised by the amount of included hardware. Be sure to keep the rubber boot for the bleeder. These are NOT included.

Hi Bill! Since you didn't mention the specific vehicle, it's hard to tell for sure. To give you the correct information I would need the year, make, model and engine size of the vehicle.

            • Q:

I've got a 2002 Chevy Silverado, 4.8L LS with extra cab(4 doors, but rear doors open opposite from front doors). The rear brakes I have now(factory, I'd presume) have single piston. Will the double piston caliper(SLC632-633) work as a replacement, as long as I do both rear calipers at the same time? Or do I have to replace with single piston calipers(C636-637)?

                A:

I'm happy to help, Dingo! The dual piston calipers that fit your 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 4.8L Extra Cab are for your front brakes. The vehicle was designed to use single piston rear calipers to provide proper braking force front and rear to ensure a safe stop. If you are upgrading your brakes due to heavier equipment being added to the vehicle I suggest starting with upgrading your brake pads and rotors to higher performing parts such as Hawk Performance LTS brake pads and DBA 4000 Series rotors.

If you need a larger braking system then you would want to proportionally upgrade both your front and rear brakes to provide the proper braking force to the front and rear to ensure safety.
