Comments about Wearever Brake Caliper Unloaded Caliper - Domestic:

What else can someone do with brakes that are a complete design flaw? GM recalled these brakes because the parking brake mechanism never self-adjusts, so you would think the remanufacturers would address this. Nope. I had to find a dealer that still had the kit, and install it myself. There was tons of petroleum jelly like stuff in the caliper bore even after more than a year of being used. Even after installing the kit, the parking brake wouldn't stop the car from moving while simply idling in drive. Now about a year later, the one caliper is starting to seize if I try to use the parking brake. Am I supposed to buy another set and try to find another recall kit to install? The recall kit supply is almost gone (or maybe it is, since it's been a year). What is a person supposed to do to keep a classic car on the road and inspected if parts are completely gone and remanufacturers aren't doing anything to address original design flaws?

Comments about Wearever Brake Caliper Unloaded Caliper - Domestic:

I bought 2 rear calipers for an 84 Camaro, only to find the rear parking brake assembly and hardware missing. After double checking that I correctly ordered the ones with everything, and looking at the website pic and ad; I discovered other pieces missing, and that someone has 'been in here before'. I believe someone has purchased these parts before, took out what they needed, and returned the rest, essentially stealing parts, leaving the next person 'holding the bag'.
I returned the parts back to Advance, and they apologized and refunded me back, promptly.
My review and experience at Advance Auto is a good one. Great place to get parts. I buy a lot of parts here. They stand behind you, as you can see. But my advice is to ALWAYS check your parts before leaving any store. You just might save some time, effort, gas, and profanity.
