Bought brake pads, & left & right calipers for my 1995 van to renew the brakes (new rotors bought from Advance 6 months ago). The left caliper was done right, with a new hard-chromed piston, new rubber seal and dust boot and an anti-corrosive coating on the exterior surfaces. This right-hand caliper on the other hand, had a partially rust-rotted & banged-up piston, a helicoil insert in the brake line banjo bolt hole, and silver 'rattle-can' spray paint liberally applied to the exterior in an obvious attempt to conceal the piston rot and the severe physical damage of the brake pad contact surface of the piston. It was after store hours Sunday night when I discovered this and I needed my van for work in the morning, so I took the piston out of my old caliper, cleaned it and put it in this one because it was in far superior condition than the one in this caliper was. Advance really needs to better oversee the quality standards of their suppliers, especially since this is a safety related component.
