Comments about Wearever Brake Caliper Unloaded Caliper - Domestic:

These calipers are nice deals, but both the SLC218 & the SLC219 are identical. What Advance Auto, or probably their supplier, doesn't take into account is the fact that there are really 2 different front caliper setups on CJ's. One, where the calipers are oriented toward the back of the spindle, and one where the calipers are rotated about 90° and are in the front of the spindle. Both sides are the same, either toward the front or toward the back, and it seems you can have the same type within the same model year. And both systems use the same calipers, just on opposite sides.

So what you have here is the SLC218 says it is for the left, which it is, but only in the rear-oriented type. It will also fit the right side of front-oriented calipers. And the SLC219 says it is for the right, which it is, but only for the front-oriented calipers. It will also fit the left in rear-oriented calipers.

I know this sounds weird and complicated; it would be much easier to explain with diagrams, but I don't have time for that right now. Maybe if I can add something later I will. But before you buy, do your research. If you drive these old Jeeps you're probably a gear-head to some degree anyway. Suffice it to say, if you want a matched pair of calipers, you will not get it with the 2 Advance Auto sells here, because like I said, they are identical. It's a shame, because these are a good deal.

Comments about Wearever Brake Caliper Unloaded Caliper - Domestic:

I've only driven about ten times after the repair, but it seems to have fixed my fading brake problem 100%. Was really easy to install, relatively inexpensive, and makes me wish I hadn't wasted the time trying to overhaul the original caliper.
